That's a good question. GPU is kind of shitte this generation. If you're in the range of $500-$600, I'll look at a 6800XT/6900XT/6950XT all with 16GB VRAM capacity. If you got $1,000, 7900XTX. You want Nvidia, be prepared to pay the green tax.

I think you're just chasing numbers, there's not much of any real noticeable difference between cl40 and cl30 at 6000MT RAM. Now if you can get CL30 for the same price (or not more than $10 difference) as CL40 then sure go for it, you're still probably not going to notice a damn thing but you can feel better than those extra 4 FPS you get are put to good use, and the people with the cheap RAM only getting 200 FPS instead of 204 shouldn't have been so cheap.

Exactly like I said, not much of a difference. 7 game average with 6000/CL30 vs CL40 is 5 FPS on a 7950x3d, and sure it's a bit more on a cheaper 7700x you're seeing a considerably larger difference (15fps) you're still comparing 190 vs 175 fps, which sure is a good 8% increase but how does that scale with a slower GPU? Why are they testing at 1080p with a 4090? Lots of questions come to mind.

When talking about the 7950x3d, the difference between 6000/cl30 and 4800/cl40 is still only 14 fps (218 vs 204). I've seen LTT also show that the differences are barely worth losing any sleep over, especially at higher resolutions.

Now it's a pain in the butt to find apples to apples pricing comparison of ram sticks, but it looks like it's about $20-25 difference or so between CL40 and Cl30, for 2x16 modules, and if that's money well spent for you then I'm not going to argue how a person values things in a computer. That said as you mentioned the "cheaper" stuff is usually what goes on sales or in bundles so that difference in cost tends to be more than $20 in the grand scheme of things and then you have to ask yourself is it really worth it? And that's a question I won't preach to anyone over, but I will still say latency for memory is not worth losing sleep over.
