Very tempting at this price (Also 7% PayPal cash back @ Samsung is still active), but horrible Samsung QC + worst-in-class customer support and iffy warranty, on top of all the bugs and bad reviews...gonna have to pass and see if the V2 fares better.

At this price I would buy a 42" LG OLED C2. You can run it in ultrawide mode for gaming and full screen for TV
Well, then you'd be sitting in front of a big ol 16:9 TV. That's the dumbest advice I've read here in awhile.

Why buy a truck when you want a sport car?

Yeah that's exactly what's making me lean towards the Dell DW version it has 3 year burn in warranty. Same panel better reliability and QC. I've heard nothing but bad things from Samsung.

A lot of people run the C2 if they have the desk space for best value per $. But yeah it's not a dedicated monitor.

QD OLED 2023 / v2 panels and the inclusion of this technology on the impending release of the New QD OLED monitors from Samsung slated to be released in the next 3 months. Both monitors have receieved a new IRRA agency rating. It seems Samsung is upgrading the 34" G8 OLED for 2023 and introducing the New Super UltraWide 49" OLED.

Thanks, bought one!!! Also I chatted with a rep and they gave me an additional discount to bring it down to 791. Which bring it to a grand total of 863.86 including tax .

I'm on the fence too. But there are rumors and the recent price decreases make me think it's coming sooner then later. Looks like an awesome monitor for most people but might have some quality issues. Qd oled is kinda a new tech so there might be some hiccups. If Samsung gave a 3 yr warranty for burn in it's a no brained but only 1 year. Usually burn in shows between year 1 and 2
Samsung just gave up on their own OLED and will be buying from LG.

Does that mean QD-OLED is dead?

Text clarity is the biggest problem with these since it uses a different pixel layout than other screen technologies. If it's a dedicated gaming monitor then it's fantastic.
This can't be emphasized enough. The text is terrible compared to a normal pixel layout.

This TV is strictly for gaming, streaming, and the occasional web browse.

If you look at text frequently (code, documents, spreadsheets, etc), you should not buy an OLED monitor.

I own this monitor. Except for the display port wake up issue, it is absolutely fantastic! Though I just bought it for 1040 and samsung is being all dumb about pricematch, so will be returning and getting a new one.

What is the reasonable compromise for a 70% work and 30% game/movies ?

Any comments on this monitor for less gaming and more productivity and watching videos?
i thought all these 1st gen OLED UW displays have an issue with the pixel arrangement which makes them not good for productivity. not an issue for media consumption though. if you need something for both i would wait for the inevitable refresh
