Why limit only Google pay to in-store when others are allowed to be used online.
Don't recollect ever sending one to Discover. Been using them for 13 yrs now. So not sure if this a new requirement
Don't think paypal is included under 'digital wallets', this is their terms:
Digital Wallet purchases include some online purchases and some in-store purchases made with your smartphone, tablet, or wearable. Wallets that qualify include Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, Garmin Pay and in store with Google Pay. Apple Pay transactions included in this offer are transactions made in-store or online when using the Apple Pay button. Listed merchants are in no way sponsoring or affiliated with this program. Certain third-party payment accounts and digital wallet transactions may not earn 5% if Discover does not receive sufficient transaction detail for the purchase to be identified as being through a digital wallet. Discover does not determine the transaction details it receives for purchases. Using digital wallets to make purchases at gas stations will only earn a total of 5%.

I know it is difficult to type out the word "please." According to my credit report, I have had my Discover card for 20 years and 5 months. Never ever have been requested for this. Google states that "Form 4506-C includes the Client company requesting transcripts and increased the number of Wage and Income transcripts request" So again, I ask YOU, what is wrong with a lender verifying how much a person makes before issuing credit.

4506-c suggests sharing with them your tax returns... That they will pull through Equifax
Do your research before commenting. And yes, there is a ton of wrong with sharing my tax returns for a $1000 CL (reportedly what they offer new accounts with excellent credit nowadays). No other bank demands this form. Aside from this, they must make it clear they will request this privacy intrusive form during the application, not after I get a hard pull from them and have to cancel the card not bowing to their ridiculous demands.
You dont have to view tax returns to determine one's credit. There is a reason credit scores/reports exist. They are not entitled for my entire tax returns for a credit card

Same here. Discover never asked for my tax returns. According to the Discover site, I've been with them for a long, long time: "Your oldest account was opened on May 1989, making your length of credit 34 years, 1 month." I signed up with Discover back when they were still owned by Sears. The card was first issued in 1985, but even when I got one, basically no one had one or used it, and it wasn't accepted in many places. They haven't increased my CL since I got it (it's a $10K CL, and I don't need an increase anyway) and they've never asked in all these years for any more information. I suppose if I were to ask for a CL increase, they'd ask for more data and proof, nothing wrong with that.
I didn't use it for years and years, they used to (back in the 80s and early 90s) give me a $25 bonus if I used the card just once, so I'd do that, and put it back in the drawer for another year. They never cancelled the card in spite of my non-use, and when they started giving cash back on purchases, I started using it a bit more. It's now my oldest line of credit, as I mentioned above. Discover is fine to use when the 5% categories are what I need, but I won't be using it for "digital wallets" or "gas stations" in the next three months. I can get 4% back at Costco on gas everyday, and I don't have or use "digital wallets". Let it collect dust for three months, and we'll see what category they offer Oct-Dec. Hopefully it's better that this.
"Gas Stations affiliated with supermarkets, supercenters, and wholesale clubs may not be eligible." That's nonsense! I'm noticing this more on credit card cashback offers.
If they take digital wallet go for it! But i bet they are cheap as f k
Was going to apply for a Discover card but then encountered multiple reports that Discover demand form 4506-C and if you refuse, they'll close your account.
No, thanks!
How many of you here had to send this form to them?
They usually request it if you apply for a second discover card. I've never seen them ask for first time cardholders.

Getting the category bonus is based on the merchant code of the business. I assume many gas stations attached to grocery stores (etc.) don't code as straight gas. Try it and see.
Will likely pay my Progressive Auto Insurance bill on app with Google Pay using Discover, Not available on desktop version.
In past years, I would pay my Progressive bill via PayPal on desktop.
ETA: Thanks to nash_dub, Discover site states in-store only for Google Pay. I might not be able to do as earlier thought.
Nice. About the time my 5 percent gas station cash back promo ends with Citi Double Cash card this one will begin. Love getting 5 percent off of my beer purchased inside the gas station
