hehe. i mean they're close enough together that i can see why this is a trip. its basically just going to be sightseeing, bus, sightseeing, bus for 18 days straight. for people that dont want to plan this can be a good deal, but just know that everything is so cheap there that you can probably chart your own path and be under $2.2k, but you wouldn't know where to go if you dont research.

honestly people it's so cheap over there just go! Bring one bag with the essentials...don't even check luggage. go to the tourist place where ever you fly into and start exploring. A little preplanning is ok to know where is SE Asia you want to go but don't bind yourself to flights and locals unless you absolutely can't miss them. Just go...hopefully with no real end date. You will find your ways around. Once you get to the first touristy area start making friends/see where they've been/listen to experiences/then decide on your itinerary.

Preplanning a SE Asia trip ruins it...go for it/wing it/and enjoy the adventure. This 17 day trip sounds miserable and expensive. Keep in mind a room is $20 and food under $5.

Not really is common.
You will be given separate room, while those traveling with friend/partner will be both in same room.

I did all these places in one trip to SE Asia, but it was over like 6 weeks, and even that was exhausting. 17 days is going to burn you out fast. You're better off waiting on a deal for the flights, then putting together you own much more limited itinerary if you really want to enjoy yourself.

Wow that's a step up from the sand floor shack I drank at in Goa, India.
I used to want to travel the world but now know all you have to do is find
the right place and the world comes to you.

I paid 23 at the time, but this is one I stayed in.

Exactly like that. rural beach area with a few little restaurants and bars..just total locally owned deals. Absolutely no corporation type business. It's surrounded by farmland and hills with volcanos within an hour drive. Think Hawaii without the development.

I would agree the urban areas have changed but that's not the appeal of this region of the world.

I wanna visit my friend in Thailand but I think I need to spend one month. But Vietnam would be interesting to see plus how much it changed since war. Has anyone gone there of late and is there lots to do.

Could range from motel 6 to Marriott depending when and where you are in VN

i'd stay away from the area at this point...too dangerous. scam centers are outrageous there https://www.vice.com/en/article/n...rafficking

given the cost, and the risk, so many other places on the planet to visit than this.
You sound like you've never left your city, it's perfectly safe especially on a tour.

I've been to Vietnam 11 times since 2004. I was just there for three weeks in April. I've never paid more than 25 a night, which included a buffet breakfast. Most are cheaper. Food costs are around 10 to 20 a day, max. Transportation is easy and cheap. Depending on what you can get airfare for, it's much cheaper to do it on your own. I backpacked in Thailand for a year, back in the 80's, when it was dirt cheap.
Did you marry a vn woman say 2003?

There's no wrong way if you go some people just need a taste.
