Full synthetic is almost $100 out here in Oregon. It's ridiculous.

I can do my own 5qt change for $25 for oil and $10 for the filter. In Oregon we got super-liberals running things so you can just put used motor oil in your recycling and they have to take it. $35 and 35 minutes, and I'm done

Went the groupon route instead because it was about $10 cheaper.
full synthetic oil? You just waited in your car while they do the oil change? How long did it take? made appointment? Did they try to sell your other repairs or replacement by saying they found this or that problem when they checked your car? Thanks

My last oil change(full synthetic, honda civic)was more than a year ago but I didn't drive much, may be 4000miles. Is it time to change my oil?
Do you do a lot of idling, or city traffic? If not then you can probably push it to 5k miles and I would never do 10k miles. Towing, idling, off roading, lot of stop and go traffic, driving in severe weather conditions, lots of redlining, racing/tracking all negatively affect the oil shortening the oil change interval one should use.

I did the blend for my car but there was an option for full synthetic.
Yes. You turn off your car and put your keys on the dash.
About 15 minutes but both my brake lights were burned out (oops) so they changed them as well... I didn't want to take the time to get to those lights on my car cause they're a pain in the butt to change.
They don't do appointments.
They check all of your lights and those were the only thing I was upsold on cause they were burned out. They took out the engine filter and showed me it and said (looks good - we don't recommend replacing it) which is good cause I replaced it a few months ago haha.
They found no issues during my visit and haven't on any other visits. The only thing the groupon doesn't cover is taxes/government fees which came out to about $6. The bulbs and installation for them were $19 each which was a tad pricey but as I said - a pain to replace.

Why best? What do you know that the engineers designing the car don't? Are you an engineer?

I know the mechanics, an engineer is perfectly fine with you ruining your engine just out of warranty as the car company can either sell you a new vehicle or the partnered dealer can get more work and sell you a replacement engine/rebuild.

Sorry, your opinions don't matter then.

Everything you're saying are just opinions. You're not an engineer, you didn't design the vehicle, so you don't "know the mechanics".

What if we have the oil already bought ? Would they still change it ?
I do my own oil changes but my parents have been taking their own oil and filter to their local Midas shop and the manager at that Midas charges them $20 labor.
They tried it at a different Midas and were told that it wasnt possible unless they buy the oil/filter from them.
So you may call around and just ask.
Oil from Walmart is cheap, get some decent oil filters online from like Wix or Mann.

How many hours of wrench turning have you or the engineers done? They know so much and are never wrong right? They never dropped the ball and had to change it before... oh wait

I am an engineer. I don't care about how knowledgeable you think you are, you're not technical.

I also said I don't have a horse in this race, I own two EVs, I don't need oil changes.

Nobody cares about how many hours of wrenching you do, that means nothing. When you start talking technical about oil viscosity with the appropriate units, then maybe.

Otherwise anything coming out of your mouth are just your opinions, not facts.

And pointing to one thing wrong doesn't invalidate my statement.

I've never seen somebody get so offended before when I tell them to read the manual.

Maybe that's why you can't do anything else in your life while I'm happily moving up my career ladder 🤣
