I was on my way to Kroger to buy an eBay gift card before I thought to verify if this phone has a MicroSD slot. Unfortunately, it does not. And unfortunately, I'm part of the minority that uses a lot of storage, or at least is used to using a lot of storage.

FYI: $420 TRADE-IN VALUE ON THIS PHONE TOWARDS AN S23 ULTRA THROUGH SAMSUNG RIGHT NOW.

Don't do this! Just got mine delivered and back glass is severely cracked. Fingerprints and dings all over, they didn't even care to give it a good wipe. screen protector by the previous owner is still on. I bought it when it was $325 now they increased it to $340. Pathetic customer service wanted proof and pictures from every angle before approving return. Sheer waste of time and effort!

For everyone, Green S23 Ultra is $1200. Subtract the $550 trade-in, then add the $325 S21 Ultra purchase, and the OOP for an S23 Ultra right now would be $975 + tax

Brand new flagship phone or not, that's too much money for me. But hopefully someday it won't be.

Saw some discussion on how long Samsung will update their phones.

For the S21 and later phones, they will provide One UI and OS updates for 4 generations, and security updates for 5 years.

Per Android Police:

"...Samsung continues to lead in this space. In early 2022, the company announced it would offer four generations of One UI and Android OS upgrades and five years of security patches, starting with the Galaxy S21 series from 2021.

This policy helps cement the company's devices as some of the best Android phones. And while those major upgrades don't roll out on day one like they do with Google Pixel phones, Samsung routinely beats its rival to the punch on security updates, while continuing to speed up the time it takes to get new One UI versions to customers."

The S9 is still a good phone.
If I were you, I would wait for amazon prime days - coming next month.
You want a Samsung refurbished phone, which means it will have all the updates, brand new battery, and in excellent condition with warranty.
Typically, they offer S20's, S21's, and just recently, a few S22's.
I got a S20FE for $210. The S21's were going for 260 to 310, but sold out very fast.
I'm holding out for a S20 Ultra.

I ordered a silver one. I am happy with the condition. It did have a scuffed up screen protector. I removed it.

Ditched Samsung as soon as they dropped SD card support and tried to sell MS one drive. If I have to deal with crappy fingerprint scanner no headphone jack and no microSD, 6 gb ram, poor battery and pay $1000 why not buy the cheapest iphone, the overall apple ecosystem is comparable to none. I love my Apple watch, airpods,ipad mini, Mac air, overall everything works flawless gets updates battery lasts longer and devices have much better resale value. Have been buying the pro version of iphone for last few years for $650-700 each year and setting the previous years for $600-650, so why not you can upgrade your phone every year with next to nothing!

Mixed feelings here well I do love the strategy of using an older flagship to save money... But the snapdragon 888 was when the Qualcomm stopped fabricating with TSM C and it was a very hot and throw on the inefficient chipset. This year only had 25 W charging, and no SD card. And s pen is not in device. The Note20 Ultra is probably the better phone but it's not gonna get Android 14. S23 Ultra is definitely a better phone but it'll be 3 years before it gets a discounted like this
