There's a place in the kitchen for both; ideally you should really have both. If you're determined to only have one, get an oven mitt instead of this. These make for horrible oven mitts for actual oven usage and for other use cases where you need the top protection and larger coverage.

The pocket seems to be throwing people off; it's just for comfort/extra grip while you're doing something like using a cast iron pan and holding the handle for long periods, or lifting something precarious. It's not a cue to be using it as an oven mitt

Ty for pointing that out. You're right, user error probably contributes to product failures. Saw a few mentioning wrong logo on product, wasn't sure if KitchenAid has new logo or these are legit comments
