FWIW the 5700x is about 180$ on Amazon. There's a 6-7$ off coupon for it right now. A cpu that runs cooler than the 5800x and isn't gonna be that much of a down grade between the two when it comes to games

Wow. How far has it gone down from its launch price!! Serious slap in the face for me buying it at launch for $450 and then to find out this is the hottest running chip in the series. And now at less than half the original price.

I agree. The Passmark results:
5700x - 1.8%/4.4% less performance on single-threaded/multi-threaded comparison respectively to the 5800x. However, it has a 16% higher value on price to performance, coupling that with the reduction of 38% TDP and 38% reduction in annual electricity cost makes up for the slightly reduced performance IMO.

The 5800X processor was $229 on Black Friday 2022 (just FYI for comparison).

AMD was in full scam mode at launch, as at the time Intel was behind in multithread performance (10th/11th gen vs Zen 3). So AMD raised prices and kept them high for a full year until Intel 12th gen came and dethroned them, then in a matter of weeks Zen 3 pricing saw huge price cuts because they knew they could no longer milk consumers. Similar deal with support for older motherboards. Motherboard manufacturers were releasing beta bios' to support older generations of motherboards, and AMD stopped them (Asrock publicly admitted this). AMD's official response was that it wouldnt work (despite the beta bios' proving them liars), fast forward to 12th gen release, and within a couple months AMD magically says they figured out a solution and old motherboards would support Zen 3. AKA AMD was trying to force people to buy new motherboards while Intel was struggling, and then when Intel bounced back AMD added support for the old motherboards to try and keep people on their platform.

2020-2022 were extremely scummy years for AMD.

Thanks for the detailed reply bud. Luckily my cpu runs cooler after a lot of trial and error power settings and curve optimizer values. Still it is not as good as compared to few others who post their -30 all core hitting 5 ghz. Mine at max reaches 4.8 ghz.
