That being the case, the last time this was on sale for this price a few weeks ago.. I opted for this 2021 RTX 3060 model because I couldn't justify paying $200 more for the 6700 for slower overall gaming performance. The extra $200 would effectively go towards a nominally better CPU (in real world usage), and 'more recent model" tax.
I actually got this to replace a chromebook of all things, not beecause of the gaming capabilities (which have been solid btw), but because of the comparable battery life when couch surfing. Comping from a spare Acer Spin 713 I had lying around, this one destroys it in battery life. It does live up to the hype.. getting at least 9 hours in non-performance mode when just surfing the internet/youtube.
Whats' even better was that I got it open box when it dropped to this price. Got it for $680 in excellent condition and they were readily available. The last cherry on top was that eventually the open box's sold out, and they dropped the price to $599 and price matched it for me even though they had no more open box inventory.
Ya... Rtx 3060, Ryzen 5800, 9-10 hr battery life for $599. Possibly the best relative laptop deal I've ever had in 20 years.

Two points of concern though. Wifi seems bad but it can be manageable with a simple change of driver settings. You can google the changes you will have to make. (or if inclined change the Wifi card)
Second is that 512GB is just not enough in 2023. It wasn't enough in 2022. The good is that you can get good SSDs 1TB for $30 and 2TB for less than $70(4TB for <$200) now. But for a 2280 installation you will need an additional mounting bracket(<$10).

Great deal on it for you though. Wasn't the wrong choice for that price you just seem to be over justifying it which could hurt other peoples choices.
Unfortunately, it was also a defective model that would randomly shutdown during gaming and in the event logs had constant whining about PCI issues. It had pretty bad coil whine as well. Given ASUS has pretty bad QC on these units, there is a good chance someone returned it as it didn't pass their personal QC, and you can either live with the issues or return it and play again.
I'll probably avoid open box in the future personally unless the savings are drastic, in which case it may be worth my time to try and fail at the QC lottery.
The no webcam thing is kinda weird, and the laptop display itself isn't the greatest, but still gets the job done @ 144hz.
