Literally took this once in a lifetime photo of a 10mm socket breeding pair fifteen minutes before seeing this post. Nice post - trying to talk myself out of buying a couple of sets, one for when these guys disappear and one for a fun gift. (But really who am I kidding... both sets for the disappearing)
Are these made of chrome molybdenum steel? I can't find the info. The 621 ratings with only 44 reviews.
I would never use these in a pneumatic tool.
No, these are verified chrome vanadium.
Whenever you see smooth shiny chrome finished sockets, it's a pretty safe bet it's not chrome moly. It's also wise to never use any chrome finished sockets (chrome vanadium) in any pneumatic or battery/electric impact tool. They will shatter.
Amazon is now showing $11.49 for the set.
It appears the $9.21 deal is dead.

Not saying it's not possible, but I've also never had it happen with a 1/2" drive pneumatic impact

I've had it happen many years ago, which was one of the rather few times I've used a chrome (chrome vanadium) non-impact socket on an impact wrench. It was a 7/8" socket and remember it well, especially when the broken piece cut into my left hand.
Granted, the vast majority of the time you can use it and it won't break or shatter at all. But that's not saying it will 'always' work out that way. Long ago I've used 'regular' sockets on an impact and 99% of these didn't break, tho I've never used any of them all that much.
Chrome vanadium sockets typically have thinner walls than an impact socket, plus it's a 'harder' metal (more hardness makes it more fracture-able) than a chrome moly impact socket.
My use of the term 'shatter', tho at the extreme upper end of what can occur, means that several fragmented pieces of the socket can break away and fly off (and this has happened in some cases), however in most cases the socket will simply crack or a single piece breaks off (my 7/8" had a medium-size piece break off).

You can search on the topic and find it's not just fiction.
I just did a quick YT search and here's just one quick example.
