I came from a 3500 and liked it a lot. This has a better UI, including a 4K OSD and much better HEOS screen. I don't really get the complaints about the look of the volume meter. It's simple and functional and looks better than the one on my 3500.
I run a 5.1.2 setup in a 16 x 20 room with Focal speakers and an SVS sub, and I have more than enough power to make listening uncomfortable.

Excellent receiver. Sound is great. No complaints except I wish I paid the $300 less.
As good as both Dirac RCs are it does not mean XT32 is bad, IMO it's very good also.
So you're not required to buy Dirac.
Me personally I'm glad Denon isn't making me pay for Dirac & like that I will eventually get both.
I have no problem waiting for a deal on them.
The Dennon is better audio quality, the Onkyo is a better value and has better features.
But you are definitely right about Dirac. Considering you have to pay for it on the Dennon and it's free on the Onkyo, the Onkyo comes out to a much better value.

I'm glad Denon didn't bake Dirac into their AVR's like Onkyo/Pionerr/Integras which we pay for(it's not free).
People keep saying Dirac is superior, thats because of their proprietary RC algorithms, both of them.
With Onkyo/Pionerr/Integras you only get Dirac Live baked in with no option for Dirac Live Bass Control, you will with D/M next year.
If people believe Diracs DLBC isn't superior and not needed, that's there personal choice.
If one believes Dirac is superior, IMO it applies to both.
Having that option later is a significant plus IMO.

Furthermore well designed circuits don't suffer "noise" from "complexity"
Analog design simply needs to be done correctly, not simply.
L/C/R JBL Studio 590
Surrounds JBL Studio 580
Atmos RSL C34ce
You need an external amp if you're running more than 9 channels.
