I think exactly the opposite way. Wait for a smoking deal on a TV, then replace it every 2-3 years while still getting back the majority of original price selling off the old TV. No way I could keep a TV for a decade just because I overpaid for the best at the time. TV tech advances far too quickly to be stuck with something for that long.

QM8 is very overpriced. Q7 or the 6 series seem to hit the sweet spot. If I am willing to spend money, I rather go with OLED.

UPDATE: I get there and it's bubble wrapped and missing the legs and they tried to give me a TCL remote from another model. I'm like how does this even get marked as "excellent?" The manager said that's a mistake on their part and he'll give me a brand new one for $569 to make it right. Thank you Best Buy, Gainesville, GA!

Personal use experience is much more relevant than wives tales and hearsay

I have several OLED's over the years....Not abused and they are fine

But see I can't stand the black levels, upscaling , color accuracy , panel uniformity , black crush, questionable build consistency that TCL offers
You understand that the Z9D was widely considered the best LCD ever made

So for me I would need to step to another Z series to match what I already have plus have the updates for technology

I dont have the ability to unsee some picture quality aspects of TCL televisions

But understood...sounds like we have wildly different priories in panels
You realize Sony now makes so so LEDs. I wouldn't ever buy one from them ever again when the TCL and Hisense are on par at a steep discount. Now Sony OLEDs rule but again at a steep price.

really.... You consider the Z9K so so?...LOL

Professionals and videophiles would disagree

Ditto with the A95K and A90 OLED/QD OLED

I dont know if I ever seen a best of the best list...for any format or technology ...where Sony wasnt top tier

There are expensive...always have been...so nothing has changed there

I personally dont think TCL and Hisense are on par with Sony and Samsung. I personally own Sony , Samsung and Hisesne LCDs

The Z9K TVs were beasts but I get it you got a great deal but no one else did. I'm also talking Sony LEDs not Mini LED and who would pay 5K for the Z9K?. The last few years of the X90 and X95 variants were trash. Complete trash at a premium. Customer service blows unless it's an OLED and I look at them as a low model now. Sorry. It's like TCL and Sony switched rolls on their LEDs

So you think the Sony QLED or Samsung are better then TCL or Hisense nowadays? Lol. See you again are probably talking Sammy QN90C and Sonys Z9K mini LED which are not QLEDs which the Q7 is. It just seems you want to jump on threads and say look at me and look at the deal I got on a Sony Z9K which makes no sense as you are comparing apples to oranges.

There have been many Z series and all but the Z9Fs were regarded as the standard bearer for the format in performance.

If you are not at that tier price point my choice would be the Samsung QN90B
Still a better overall TV than any TCL or Hisesne

I bought an open box 65" Samsung QN90a for $685 a little more than a year ago
For that money it was a steal. At the $999 price that many bought it for on sale it was a very solid buy that does every thing well or at least pretty good and it has no real downsides
For me in an LCD.. Poor panel uniformity is a deal breaker. Bad blooming control is a deal breaker. Quality of picture processing/upscaling is very important to me

I also have a Vizio P series( 2016) that I dont really use any more. Black level is good as is the panel uniformity, however the upscaling is poor

And the 90B would be twice as much and honestly I have one and sold it. Not a fan

You are a TV snob and why would you come on a TCL thread then if you have no interest in what you call Low End TVs. See what I'm saying.

You realize that a QLED is just an LCD and a technology that was first put out there by Samsung right?

As for what is better the performance specs and reviews speak for themselves

I am not sure what you mean by jumping in..You jumped on a response I made and it sounds like you didnt read the chain of what I was responding to

I never said I got a deal on a Z9K, not sure where you got that from

There are some apples and oranges as the Z9K is an 8K TV

But I think the Samsung Q90B is good example...4K and a still better overall performance than anything from Hisense or TCL...AND if you care about it....better resale when you try to unload it in 2-4 years

Are you in slick deals and see what QN90Bs have sold for?
If you think twice as much I dont think you have been looking
Again..I won Hisese and Vizio..LOL
I have had the ability to sit them side by side

Whether its worth the difference in an exercise in willingness and capability and each person makes those choices

However the performance numbers are the performance numbers

Dude I understand how LEDs work. A QN or mini led from Sammy or Sony is not what this Q7 is. You didn't answer my question. If you aren't a fan of TCL why would you jump on a thread on Slickdeals and comment. We have a 2 word saying for that from where I come from. Yes I know you have a Z9D or whatever. Just weird that someone that has no interests posts on something that doesn't interest them.. Sorry I keep a TV at most 2 years and the resale value whether my S95B or my QN90B or a 6 series TCL will get about the same resale value. Honestly if I didn't get the Sammy's cheap the resale value would suck compared to the TCL.

The resales have been very different to me...so we clearly live in very different markets
You seem to making up things as well...if I wasnt a fan of TCL I would have said that. I simply spoke about its performance and those are just facts
I completely get that expectation typically needs to change when you spend less

You didnt answer my question...did you read the chain of what I was responding to in its entirety ?
If you did then you have your answer as why I respeonded

Again I don't get it. I have no interest in Sony TVs. I wouldn't even look at a thread about Sony. I've read your comment and again you sound like a DB. How do you get resale value on such a low end TV like TCL. Now I only buy high end TV like the Z9D etc etc. It's actually funny
