Not seeing enough shade on this post - these have really poor performance in many scenarios. I'd be super reluctant to use these in a NAS unless they're specifically called out by the NAS support spec. I was forced to buy one for a project about 18 months ago. I needed flash and I needed 7TB of cap, I also needed it overnight. My job was to pull the 7TB from cloud storage and stage it here for multiple writes/exports down to an encrypted HDD.

This drive ended up being the bottleneck. Couldn't keep up with 1Gb/s coming over the wire; write speeds would dip below 30MB/s routinely, IO latency would exceed 1000ms. Ended up writing the job directly to spinning disk instead.
Picked up 4 earlier for my NAS. Also picked up 3 of the 20TB red. My most expensive prime day yet!

TB. 😉

Does anyone have any issues with using these in a NAS but having cache performance issues? I keep holding out for the EVO models in hopes they'll be TLC.

We need 8TB/16TB EVO... I am using QNAP Dual 2.5" SATA SSD to 3.5" SATA RAID adapter to combine 2 QVOs for better read/write speed but the adapter is not very stable... My nas only has 5 bays...

Was going to get an external today but for this price I'll get this. Solid deal

*EDIT* Nevermind, the EVO is a better option for $169.99 for the 4TB. Went with two of those over this QVO as they are way faster write for large files and more reliable.

Too many SSD deals these days, and I honestly don't know which I should get. Samsung and WD are the best 2 brand, right?

Probably wouldn't be able to resist if this was NVME. Black Friday is going to be nuts at this rate!

8tb nvme are not yet mainstream... Which brands even offer something like that?
