Just leaving this comment here for the benefit of others - This is the Edge (Mediatek processor) and not the Edge + with the Snapdragon processor.

I have a pixel 6a and this Moto edge. Other than the updates, the Moto is a much better daily driver. I've been using it since December and have found it perfectly capable. The screen is impressive and bright. The camera has a larger main sensor than my galaxy S 22, and although the software is weaker, it takes really nice photos that look great even printed out at 8.5 by 11. The speakers are much better than my galaxy or iPhone. The media Tech is surprisingly responsive, although obviously not as fast as the snapdragon in the Edge plus. It's very lightweight and feels nicely balanced in the hand. I'm sure others will disagree vehemently, but I heartily recommend this phone at this price.

The megapixel count isn't what matters on modern smartphones. It's just a marketing figure. The AI software that's processing the photo is what matters. Also, the quality of the sensor is more important than the pixel count. The Pixel 7 line only has a 50MP camera and it's tied with Samsung and Apple's flagships for the best photos. Moto has inferior software than the leading manufacturers. Moto has a phone with a 200MP camera, yet it takes inferior photos to even the Pixel 5's 12MP camera. Depending on what you're documenting, the Moto may still be fine, though. It's not like the photos will be a completely blurry mess. They just won't look as crisp and photogenic.

Name me the Motorola phone that they didn't deliver its promised system update.
They said the Motorola One 5G Ace would be getting Android 12 and then a year later they backtracked and never delivered.

Edit: To be clear, I'm not saying the phone isn't a good value for free or even $250. I just wouldn't count on timely upgrades (or even upgrades period).

You don't expect upgrades or updates period even though Power, Stylus, Ace, Edge, etc. got their system updates? You think Motorola will say 2 or 3 system updates and give none on their flagship Edge/Edge Plus lines?

Motorola One 5G Ace (2021) is still their budget/mid range line. It is a smidge above the Power/Stylus 2020. Ace went from Android 10 to 11. It wasn't like its flagship line like the Edge line. Unlocked Motorola One 5G Ace was priced at $399 launch and that is even cheaper than an unlocked Moto G Stylus 5G 2022 that gets only one system update. I don't expect my Moto G Stylus 5G 2022 to get 2 or 3 system updates. The Edge and Edge Plus is their flagship line that is priced way more than their "budget/mid range" lines so naturally they will get more system updates than phones like the Ace, Power and Stylus lines (budget/mid range). The higher priced flagship lines get longer support than the budget/mid range. My Motorola phones that got 2 system updates were Moto X Pure, Moto Z Play, Moto Z2 Force. These phones were above their budget/mid range line. My Moto G Power/Stylus 2020 and Moto G Stylus 5G 2022 will get one system update and I knew that from the beginning.

Dude, you asked for an example of when they didn't deliver a previously promised update as if that had never ever happened before. I give you an example of exactly that and you make excuses for them. Point is they have broken promises before on delivering updates so they can no longer be trusted when it comes to updates. Full stop.

Silly to expect budget/mid range Motorola phone to get multiple system updates. What is the other broken promised phones that didn't get a promised system update or is it just this Ace? How many different Motorola phones are there? Motorola came out with a whole bunch of phones that delivered their promised system updates but you can assume the specific budget/mid range Ace didn't get multiple system updates so that applies to ALL MOTOROLA PHONES. Silly. What somebody pays for a phone matters with how long the support will be. Common sense. Being late and not delivering system updates at all are completely different things but some people will exaggerate and make a mountain out of a mole hill.... "Don't expect any updates PERIOD."... Spoken like someone who never had Motorola phones ever. Funny how Motorola delivered all the system updates as promised with my Moto G 2nd Gen, Moto X Pure, Moto Z Play, Moto Z Play, Moto Z2 Force, Moto G Power/Stylus 2020, etc. but with all your experiences with Motorola, you never got any "upgrades" or updates period. To be late with updates is one thing but to state that they don't give "any updates" period is laughable. But because the budget/middle range Ace got one system update, we all can expect no updates (period) for all Motorola phones including their flagship lines that state 2/3 system updates? Makes sense. (Rolling eyes sarcastically)

I have a 3-year old 4G LTE Tracfone. Can I just take my sim card out of that, and put that into this phone?

A friend loves Moto phones because of the slow updates. He complains when updates change the UI. He doesn't care about security updates since he doesn't bank with the phone. This guy is 44, not 74! LMAO

Boost Moto Edge+ Plus 2022 with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 8GB RAM & 512GB storage for $199.99 and $40 plan cost $4 to unlock on Ebay. A lot faster Phone for similar price.

FYI, expendable storage is not fast enough for modern phones. It provides a poor user experience. I'm not referring to the vast majority here. We understand. But an average customer would say that their phone is laggy when using expandable storage.
You have no idea what you are talking about.... SD card doesn't lag the phone if you aren't using it for apps.

Just bought the LG V60 Thinq 5g and it's the best bang for your buck. It's incredible. I recommend it, it just got the android 13 update.

Pulled the trigger on this at Best Buy. I had an old Motorola One Action laying around the house that was used in the past and they offered $105 for trade in dropping this to $145 pre-tax. Not sure if they have as high of trade-in value on other devices, but may be worth a look as it definitely sweetened the deal for me

opps.
nevermind.
looks like its not going well

Quote from Cla1000 :
Hi. Yes, got it unlocked successfully from ebay. No luck getting it to work on spectrum. I waisted 2 hrs on the phone with costumer service and no go. It appears as incompatible with their system. It seems to connect with their network when you put their sim card in. After that any calls I made go to costumer service…
I also checked with Verizon and online imei comes up as incompatible.
At this point it's useless and I will try to return it…
