I got in with the orginal deal without any issues. There was a lot of misinformation in the orginal thread, but yes, all you have to do it just activate the phone with the fi app, then take the Fi SIM out and never touch it again (sock drawer it, trash it, etc). You can pop in a SIM from another carrier with no problem. After 120 days have passed you can verify that it's finalized in your fi account > savings > earned. At that point you can do whatever you want, the discount is yours to keep.

I think a significant difference here is we are not getting the storage upgrade for free? I got this deal last time but got the s23 ultra with 512gb for the same price as they are offering the 256gb.

I don't plan on doing it, but how does one transfer active Fi service from a pSIM to an eSIM?
Remove psim, restart the phone, open fi app, activate esim.

When you activated the S23's eSIM that way, did the Fi app say your current service is on the S23's pSIM and asked for the OK to transfer to the eSIM?

Can i join for free with esim to become a member or do I have to buy a sim card?
Fi has a free 7-day trial using the eSIM of your BYOP phone, but I don't know if that will qualify you to order the S23 with the discount for an existing paying member.

Any idea when deal expires?
I just checked and this shows an end date of Sept 10, 2023. Not sure when they added that.

I stand corrected. I thought this was ends when the supply ends kind of deal. Also not sure what will change Sept 10th, I dont think they will go back to bill credits.

Ah, nice. If you do that does it say to transfer service from pSIM?

The fall brings better deals as it gets closer to s24 release

I think around Thanksgiving last year, for the S22 the required service dropped from 4 months to just 1 month. But I kind of doubt that will happen for the S23 because it's still selling well.

I activated my service on the physical sim first.

No. You have to open the Fi app. It will know there is no sim and will ask you to activate esim. It will then download your service to the esim. I did this because in case the phone gets lost or stolen, my fi sim can't be put in another device, thus voiding my promo credits.

They may offer enhanced trade in values

I have the sim , I have credit on my account - yet I am snoozing on this deal for now - I am not worried about missing the boat because my S22 can make it to the s24 preorder deals

Yep the very best deals are at launch. Last year I paid $1050 for a z fold 4 with watch 5 pro and buds 2 pro. I traded in an eBay 300 flip 3. So out of pocket 1350.
