I got in with the orginal deal without any issues. There was a lot of misinformation in the orginal thread, but yes, all you have to do it just activate the phone with the fi app, then take the Fi SIM out and never touch it again (sock drawer it, trash it, etc). You can pop in a SIM from another carrier with no problem. After 120 days have passed you can verify that it's finalized in your fi account > savings > earned. At that point you can do whatever you want, the discount is yours to keep.

I think a significant difference here is we are not getting the storage upgrade for free? I got this deal last time but got the s23 ultra with 512gb for the same price as they are offering the 256gb.

....and some people know about deals but don't want to do them. I told some friends about the money I made selling all the free iPhone11's that I got from Tracfone with Rewards points I earned from referring people, and all these Fi deals. They were envious but they claimed the deals were too complicated or they don't have time. Heck, they're retired IT people like me, have lots of free time on their hands (to go play golf or fish), and they're not dumb. They're either too rich or don't enjoy chasing good deals.
They didn't want to be flippers, that's not the same as not liking deals.

I was confused by the Tracfone deal. I never used them. The iPhone 11 through Metro thought you had to go into a retail store which I heard was a nightmare
The Tracfone Rewards program is now not worth doing after Verizon (which bought TF in Nov 2021) reduced the rewards points significantly. In its heydays, you got 12,000 points for each customer you referred (after the 4th one), and 10,000 points for adding a new line. You can redeem 20K points for a $300 discount code to buy phones from TF. A new iPhone11 is sold for $250 on TF web site. With some effort, I accumulated enough points to get 19 free iPhones11's and a bunch of "filler" phones like Samsung A03s which costs $50 (to use up the $300 code). I sold the iPhone11s to resellers for $275-$300 each. Easy money.

Thats awesome. Wish a deal came like that again. I know a lot of people made huge money off the BB trade in deal last year. For some reason I feel the BB deal was less ethical, perhaps b/c most people were violating the terms and doing multiple

I've never done any phone trade-in deal with Best Buy nor Samsung. The only trade-in deal I did with Samsung was last September when they had the Buds2 for $30 if you traded-in ANY wired headphones/earbuds. I traded in a $2 pairs of Dollar Tree earbuds.

If I were you I'd return the phone of it's still within return period. Fi is not "friendly" or easily accessible when it comes to promo hiccups. Expect a good fight to get that promo.
Fi cleared up the yellow check mark within hours and today it's saying stay active for 119 more days.

Ain't that the truth. Her 120 days expires on the day our bill generates. Wonder if I'll get charged for the next month.

You can use this Date Calculator to know exactly when the 121st day is (add 121 to the activation date). With Oct and Dec having 31 days each, you might reach the 121st day a few days before the billing date.
https://www.timeanddate.com/date/dateadd.html

Anyway, if you cancel when you're already into the 5th billing period, they will prorate how many days you were in it and issue a refund after two billing cycles.

It shows I activated on September 21st. 121 days puts me at January 20th. My billing cycles have been on the 21st.

Say the offers show earned on January 20th. You think I can get out without having to have them charge me and wait for the prorated refund? At the end of the day it doesn't really matter all that much.

If you haven't yet, read info in the Wiki on how to verify that your promotion is earned on the 121st day. Once that's confirmed, cancel your Fi service on the same day (info on cancelling is also in the Wiki) and you won't get the 5th bill.

Google Fi is now offering the S23 Ultra for $500 after 24 months bill credits (S23+ is $500, and S23 is $300).

Can you pay off the phone early--or at least the outstanding balance before bill credits--and retain the bill credits?

Attached are the terms of the 24-month deals. If you want to pay off the phone outright (i.e. buy without financing), you still get the bill credits for 24 months ($700 / 24 months), but you need to maintain Fi service in those 24 months.

The additional details say "Unused monthly bill credits will not rolled over to future months". With $700 credit doled out in 24 months, that's $29.16 each month. If you use the Flexible plan which is usually $26-$27 per month (with taxes & fees) for most people, you'll be wasting some credit each month.

We're looking to get four lines on Simply Unlimited.

There isn't a scenario where you finance the phone, then pay it off later. I'm assuming you maintain bill credits as long as you keep service for 24 months, but it's not explicitly specified. I'm also looking to just pay off everything that the bill credit doesn't (three S23s, so $900--fourth phone will be an iPhone 15).

It's stated in the 1st attachment "If you cancel service at any time before the 24 months, you will forfeit all remaining monthly credits".

24 mo seems so long.... I can see 12 mo but not 2 years....

Anyway, I still see original deal as posted in this thread on an inactive account.
