I have used them both because my friend reviews tech products for a living and I go over and play with them. This is a much stronger processor. It also supports a desktop mode and the a54 does not. This has a glass build wireless charging and a lot more flagship features.

Major benefit to the a54 is that it's going to be updated for a lot longer.a54 we'll get Android 13 and 14 and 15 and this will probably just get Android 14. And it won't get security patches for as long.

Personally I would go with the Motorola but if I was recommending a phone to a casual user like my mom or my sister I might lean with the a54 just cuz it'll be secure for a longer period of time and they probably wouldn't make use of the flagship features like the desktop mode or the stylus.

The Motorola also has stylus support with an external stylus you can buy, an amazing desktop mode with a dock. Definitely a more premium piece of hardware

Yes this been going on for awhile in The Feb thread.

Was thinking of getting one but
Slow Moto Android upgrades, no dual sim, avg cam, large size stopped me.

Was going to get it for $50 with in store port in...but boost stores charge MSRP tax, activation fees, and higher plan... Similar to metro stores...so I didn't go that route.

Just a little review here. I received the phone on Monday and have been using it since. For $200 this phone is a steal. I am updating from a Oneplus 9 that I got last year on a Slickdeal from Best Buy for $150. The biggest issue I had was that it was only 128gb and the OnePlus 7 I had before was 256gb. This being 512gb takes away any space concerns which were a big problem before. The Snapdragon processor is top of the line and for me the Ready Now is a real game changer. I am able the phone on my desktop during work and now I don't need to use the phone itself at all for most things. It will also be great for using on vacation. I can just plug it into any hotel tv and have a desktop like experience or watch whatever I want from the phone. I was able to unlock it right away from Dr. Unlock on eBay who was recommended in the wiki. I am having the tracfone issue mentioned but I will order a new sim to have it transferred before the month of Boost is over. I also use Google Voice as my primary number so the actual service or phone number doesn't matter. No need to port my number when I switch services. I am no expert with cameras and i'm sure the cameras here will meet my simple needs. Overall this is a great deal to get a top of the line flagship phone at a great price.

I ordered on Friday morning, but the order is still showing as processing. Does anyone know if they ship on weekends? Also, do they use UPS or FedEx to ship the phones?

ty 4 reply. and good summary/recommendations.

i find myself in between the casual user & super user.
lol.

i too can probably get by with the a54.
(will almost never: game, or use stylus or the desktop mode).

but will always crave the FS specs of the E+

as u say
The E+ i think will get 3 android and 4y of bi-monthly updates.
the a54 1 year more on each (?)
so longer a54 support yes, but not by much.

besides in 2 years will probably get the next deal
Yeah if you don't plan on keeping your phone 4 years and you only plan on keeping it two years then the a54 having a longer update is less of a benefit. That's one reason I would probably go with the Motorola. I don't really think I still be using the a54 when it gets Android 16 or whatever in 3 years!

curious as to ur thoughts when u recieve them

how u like the E+2022? compared to a54?

my thoughts:

a54
$94
1 year newer.
better support it seems

e+
$260
1 year older
better processor
questionable support

A54 is $90+tax if you buy from Metro, but those don't unlock for 6 months, so unless you want to use it on Metro, it wouldn't be an option. I think this Edge+ is a really good deal right now. Should have the phones in my hand this week. Will compare to my S22 Ultra and S22.

A54 much more difficult to unlock, though.

You can always sell the unlocked A54 for say $200 and then you end up getting the Edge+ for only an extra $60 over the A54 (around $150 total).

was trying to understand the promise from cell phone carriers regarding
android version updates & security updates.
i know samsung is very good & mororola very bad

regarding A version updates.
my understanding is that this is a joint effort between
wireless carrier, phone manufacture & google.

so for this edge+ 2022 even if moto promised 2 A updates + 3y security updates.
if boost does not invest in updating.
then this phone will be stuck

similarly

for metro a54, even if samsung promises 4 A updates + 5y security updates.
if metro does not invest in updating.
then this phone will be stuck

this is my basic understanding, which may be completely wrong.

furthermore.
what if this metro a54 is used on tmobile
or the boost edge + is used on tmoblle
meaning NOT the carrier it was release in.
will updates stop?

info from anyone will be welcomed

Since the phones are sold by Metro and Boost with their own ROMs/tweaks, you would think updates would need their involvement, at least for major updates like Android 13. So you may be right, if Metro and Boost decide to abandon updates or just sit on their backsides, not much we can do. This will make the phone manufacturers look really bad though, so you'd think that they would make sure any carrier that officially sells their phones agrees to the minimum updates they promised, even if it takes longer for Boost or Metro to receive the updates.

reasonable conclusion.
but as someone noted earlier.
even on moto website.
boost has only 2 phones (i forget which ones) set to get A13.
both budget variety.
no mention of E+2022

so as i mentioned earlier i have the edge+ 2022 running with a boost mobile $10 sim plan.

today i tried to port my old phone number over to this boost phone, and boost mobile support refused to do it, they will only allow you to bring your number in when they pre-activate the sim card.

i wanted to try the boost mobile service out before going thru the hassle of porting, but that's not possible when you order online... additionally, the sim card is pre-activated by boost, so the $40 card purchase that's a requirement when buying the phone is also useless.

i asked boost phone support if they would send me a new $10 sim card to make up for their deceptive business practices, but they refused, so i'll have to file chargebacks, in this case on both sim cards... i asked to speak to a supervisor, but was put on eternal hold, so had to hang up.

i looked thru the boost website, and of course there is nothing stating that they will not allow numbers to be ported in, which is an industry-standard practice.
