are the HP batteries worth it for a DIY'er? Can't find a clear answer.
I will only buy the HP batteries and have converted my whole supply to them once they came out. You'll need them if you get the better brushless tools at any point. My answer is yes and I won't even consider the other batteries anymore.

I'm pretty sure my brand new brushless stick vac killed one of my regular 18v batteries. Do the brushless use more juice? I thought they were more efficient.
This goes until the 30th or end of the month. The clearance price thread has the brickseek link to see if you have any of the battery kits in your area to do the deals. Online said I had no stick vacs at my store. There were 8 on display when I went in to check. I had a harder time finding the 3 leftover HP starter kits to use on the deal. I posted the price breakdown in the $159 thread.

Brushless will use more juice when needed to be more powerful and the HP batteries are design to work with them to supply more juice when needed. Some tools also have the extra post that works with the HP batteries for extra oomph.

Is the only way to hack this to return the batteries to a store? I used to be able to have them shipped to different stores and then not pickup the batteries.

Edit, looks like previous discussion was marked expired.
Can anyone confirm that as of today the clearance priced battery packages ($79/$159) are still providing a free tool if purchased together in-store?
