Depends on the type of transfer. For large sequential writes, a CMR (or even SMR) HD will easily outpace these cheap SSDs. Large hard drives tend to start out around 250MB/s and drop to around 150MB/s by the end of the drive. The pSLC cache on these SSDs (which could be anywhere from a few GB to a quarter of the drive's capacity) will probably write at around 400-500MB/s. Once filled, expect the performance to drop to somewhere in the ballpark of 6-80MB/s. The only QLC drive I've tested averaged <40MB/s after filling the pSLC cache.

does this make sense as the external drive for xbox x? you can buy 8 tb drives from amazon for 90 bucks. there are platter drives and have their own power supply, which generates extra heat. this will shut on and off with the xbox. do the transfer speeds make much of a difference? you should be able to play non X optamized games off of both?
