Has TCL fixed the Google TV interface lag issue on these? My 2022 TCL 5 series google TV is very laggy. Their Roku TVs are much better.

You can create your own ratings on Rtings. You can adjust all your preferences and get a new rating for all tvs. https://www.rtings.com/user/ratin...SJUebYgNaw click on "Edit Rating" to change the values.

For example, I have mine set at:

28.9%Picture Quality
13.3%TV Shows
8.5%SDR Brightness
8.4%Real Scene Peak Brightness
7.0%Color Volume
5.6%Local Dimming
5.4%Contrast
5.4%Contrast with local dimming
4.3%HDR Brightness
4.2%Motion
4.1%Sports
1.7%Movies
1.7%HDR Movies
1.5%Color dE

Using my chosen values, the U8H is 8.6 and the QM8 is 8.7.
AHH

Based on your numbers you would be hard pressed to justify the extra few hundred of the TCL

Mine would probably work out about the same...though I would put movies as a higher percentage and remove the contrast portion where no local dimming is enabled.

Not sure why if you had local dimming why it would not always be enabled.

This or the new U8K?
So this one has a true 10-bit panel. The 8K has the eight. This one has more Dimming zones. The 8k-75-in may not have a VA panel if that matters.

The deal breaker I've seen for a lot of people is the Black crush happening with the QM8. There are videos of people showing off star wars episode 1 and the first scene that has stars littered in the background is crushed to nothing on this TV.

I was seriously ready to pull the trigger on the 75 in until I've seen that feedback coming through. I suppose it's possible they can keep working on their dimming algorithm. it started off really rough where the brightness of scenes would change mid scene. they fixed that on the most recent firmware update. I guess people are just discovering how bad the Black crush is depending on the scenes.

I have the 75 and played that scene during the day, stars appeared fine. This was through an Apple TV if that matters?

From rtings user:

Any word from TCL about the EOTF? Im seriously considering returning this TV the lack of picture settings, and no brightness slider in DV is a blow. The TV is under tracking HARD in lower brightness content. Disney+ phantom menace the opening scene after the crawl text, when the ship appears the stars are literally non existent. Usually the black crush is horrible in a bright room but even in a dark room with this movie particularly its bad. I watched the same scene on my iphone and the difference is 10000x night and day.

Is there any word from TCL about the EOTF? @Rtings
AVSforum qm8 owners thread theres many others with the same issues.

Black crush example

they are returning theirs and getting the u8k

Anyone considering anything in this price range should automatically be considering LG OLED's. I would pass on this.
Disagree, MLED and OLED can be two very different buyers. OLED has the best contrast in dark rooms but MLED has the best contrast in light rooms. OLED also has burn-in risk which may come into consideration depending on use case.

I am torn between this tv, S90C or U8K. That is with the assumption the S90C hits around the 2k price point for the 77". Replacing a KS8000 that has around 19000 hours on it. Still running but want a bigger size and better HDR etc.

I agree with you somewhat...except I think its more complicated than that.
Viewing angles, panel uniformity, blooming

However...I dont understand the value of this TV when people are buying Samsung QN90B's for the same price

I can see the Hisense U8H at $799....but not sire $1199 makes sense for this TV

https://www.digitaltrends.com/ Digital Trends also has an excellent YouTube channel. You can find reviews of the U8K and QM8 there. https://www.youtube.com/@digitaltrends

https://www.youtube.com/@stopthefomo Along with Digital Trends, my favorite YouTube tv review site.

https://www.youtube.com/@hdtvtest If you want to REALLY go down the rabbit hole of technical tv reviews. For 90% of consumers, I would stick to the first two.

I doubt the S90C 77" will ever get to $2k or anywhere close to it. The S95B is a year old but the 65" is still $1600.

When inventory of older tvs gets to a certain level, it doesn't make sense to drop the price. They just sell what they have left for as much as they can. That's unless there's a huge stockpile of unsold units. That's not the case with the S95B (not that many were made) and will likely be the same with the S90C.

The 65" QN90B is $1600 at Best Buy. Hardly the same price as the TCL or Hisense. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sams...Id=6500634

The S95B was as cheap as 1200 recently. I bet it gets close.
