You are talking full MSRP of the Onkyo/Pioneer units....street price I can guarantee will be less than MSRP, such as the X3800 is now
We also dont know how the amp/power supply sections of those units will test...if I were a betting man I would say they will outbench the X3800
So a little bit of apples and oranges there mixed in with several unknowns.
Yes if you want the "full suite" NOW it's the RX70/LX805 + $500 for DLBC.
If you know where to get them for less than MSRP NOW please tell.
Yes LATER they will drop in price but so will the 3800.
The 4800/RX50/LX505/DRX3.4,5.4 "out benched" the 3800.
I couldn't hear that difference, if you can you're better than me.
Especially when consider the 3800/4800/6700 all use the same DAC.
I'll take the "full suite" of Dirac over some bench test especially for price difference.
No listening test is valid unless it's completely blind and sources of sound are exactly level matched. You have to take any and all human bias out of the equation.
You listened mono?
Were the speakers stacked in the same location as you switched between them? Even identical speakers will sound slightly different when in different positions in the room. Were the 2 speakers tested to verify they have identical frequency responses. I sent back a pair of popular "budget" speakers everyone raves about because they didn't measure the same/identical.
There's a reason better speaker brands ship speakers as "matched pairs"
No offense, but your "test" wouldn't hold up to any scrutiny.
You need to have someone else run the switching, out of your sight while you just listen. They should also be doing "placebo" switches where they use the same avr twice or three times in a row, I mean...if you want to be an actual blind test with no bias.
If you're doing it for fun, who cares? But don't expect your results to be respected as a valid test otherwise.
Do you know how many people say they prefer X to Y, but when tested blind, they can't pick either as a preference, or actually prefer Y?
Same can be said when they say they don't have a preference. There is always an unconscious bias.
Just like people will say they prefer a sealed sub to ported, but can't pick one over the other in a blind test. Or worse, they pick the ported over the sealed. Lol.

Everyone in this world has a biased, subjective opinion on everything. Unless you're some expert on the particular subject, why would anyone care about watching a video about your biased subjective opinion? It would be worthless.
But, set up a test where you remove your subjective bias and now you are getting somewhere. Who knows, maybe your opinion of the harsh sounding Denon will remain.
We'll never know....🤣🤣🤣
Denons have a hidden speaker impedance setting and I believe actually setting it to 4 ohms limits the amp output to protect the amp. I have mine still set at 8 ohms and have not had any issues though I don't play at super loud volumes, YMMV. May be more of an issue if all of your speakers are 4 ohms.

The new Pioneer/Onkyo/Integra units are just being introduced...I see " back order" and " coming soon"
So you are comparing a product that is basically for an early adopter at this point versus one that has been on the market
Historically ...products at this level have been available in 4-5 months after introduction as refurbs on sites like A4L etc
From a price stand point it makes sense to compare the price points at that time..or you can pay the early adopter " tax" if you want the complete suite right now
Which then would youmake you exclude the Denon/Marantz products anyway
Additionally, the Onkyo/Pioneer/Integra trio is positioned 1-2 levels above the Denon X3800
At least at the level of DenonX4800/Marantz Av40
That may not make a difference or be important to you...but clearly there is a large market that thinks differently.
Lastly..the buzz right now seems to be Dirac ART...which it looks like none of the Asian manufacturers will support anytime soon
But hats off to Monoprice for supporting it and at nearly half the price of the Marantz AV10, that does not
