Have the 800 series and it's ridiculous how quiet it is. I know why they put the light on the floor now to know it's running. FYI to anyone else that buys a BOSCH know they have a traditional plug and not just three wire setup like a normal dishwasher.
I sell appliances. Bosch 800 series is excellent. Most superior dry system of any dishwasher and great reliability. They are dumping old stock because the new model is just starting to ship.
If you are in the market for a new one get this even if it's out of budget. Don't bother with any other Bosch series number, they won't have the crystal dry system.
The new 800 series has a different wash system that has a double rotating sprayer arm to cover more area, and different intensity sprays for the 4 quadrants. Cool changes, but there was no need to change anything with how solid the last model was. Definitely recommend it. Only thing better is probably a Miele.
Interested in other opinions on this.

I have a 500 series that didn't last 5 years and so I'm a bit reluctant. Looks like all makes and models have bad reviews these days

I have this dishwasher, and I don't understand the reviews that praise it for being quiet. It's loud. Had an LG before this that actually was whisper quiet, but leaked, this is not.
I've seen reports like this, and it seems that sometimes people get either no or the wrong insulation to go around the dishwasher. Ultimately, the quietness of a dishwasher is largely driven by the quality of the insulation around the unit. Take a cheap dishwasher and wrap it with compatible high quality insulation and it, too, will be very quiet. There are other installation errors that can result in a noisy dishwash, but just wanted to point out that sometimes people get the wrong insulation. You can probably blame either the store or the delivery/install team for setting it aside then grabbing the wrong one, or some other human error like that.

Perhaps your case is different for reasons different than what I shared above, but I have seen that more than once. From my experience with the Series 800 units, they're very quiet. So quiet that it's hard to tell if they're actually running, even during the noisier water-spraying cycles.

100% agree on how quiet it is. I can't count the number of times I've opened the damn thing when it is running — yes, yes, just look for the light on the floor but when standing right next to a machine pumping and spraying water in effectively a tin can, humans are just conditioned to assume the thing is going to be making some sort of noise but it is insane how quite ours is.

No issues with ours in the last couple of years we've had it.

How is this compared to costco deal ? Costco deal includes free haul away and install

https://slickdeals.net/f/16866839-bosch-800-series-top-control-towel-bar-handle-dishwasher-stainless-steel-tub-crystaldry-technology-ultra-quiet-42-dba-1199

I was looking at this as well. IMO, it's the better model.

Few items I could see different between the two:
  • External Handle
  • Built in Water Softener (Salt tank inside)
  • Home Connect enabled
  • 7 wash cycle (vs 6)
  • Color matched kick panel (Maybe Stainless?) vs black rubber (bottom plate under the door)
  • Made in Germany - Bosch specifically states this model is made in Germany on their website

This model would be $1,350 MSRP. Here is product page:

Been waiting for this as well. Sadly when you add back in installation and removal of old dishwasher, it basically goes back up to full retail price (or a little more). Anyone have any coupons to stack?
Both Lowes and Home depot, charge quite a bit for install and haul away old one. so does Best buy. Only Costco has free basic install and haul away. But i see bad reviews on costco's install and service.

This model comes with its own insulation. Is additional insulation supposed to be used? I had mine professionally installed, so I'm not entirely sure what they did. Last night mine was making a whining noise, kind of like the sound from a wine glass when you rub your wet finger around the rim. Not entirely sure if that's normal either. Aside from the loudness, it's not a very spacious dishwasher. We haven't been all that happy with it, but I tell myself it's all about the cleaning and drying power with this one.

You're right that it comes with its own insulation. But often, the installers/warehouses will unbox these units in advance to expedite jobs. When they do this, if they're sloppy, they can mix and match the insulation between different dishwasher models. This doesn't usually happen, but it does happen. There may also be times where it's a really tight fit (it's usually intended to have a tight fit) and the installers may improvise and use the old insulation with the new unit. Again, they shouldn't do this, and it doesn't usually happen. But it can and does.

I doubt you'd do these things if you bought it, unboxed it, and installed it.

We have some random LG unit in this house we're renting right now and we can only get about half as many dishes in there as what the Bosch could fit. We really want our Bosch back.

Unless you have really hard water in your area, I'd avoid the model with the built-in water softener. I'm also not a fan of the towel bar handle, I had one of those many years ago and my pants pockets are at a height that they would occasionally get caught if I was walking close to the dishwasher. Sucks when you rip the pocket on a pair of nice chinos.

I just replaced my 8.5 year old Bosch 800 that had a built-in softener (model #SHP7PT55UC). I bought from a local reputable appliance dealer who swayed me to an 800 with the salt tank (vs. non-salt tank version) because they had high customer feedback that the feature really improved dish cleaning. For reference, the water hardness in our area is around 120, at the high-end of the "moderately hard" range. I used the salt (made by Finish - order from Amazon) for the first 3-4 years and stopped using it because:
  • The salt left a film over time on glass. It was much worse on some metal objects like baking sheets and cheaper pots which developed a black/grayish dust.
  • I believe the salt contributed to the demise of the racks. Over time, the protective enamel on the rack tines is going to get scratched or cracked through normal use. I believe the salted water got into those areas and accelerated rust to the point that they broke off. Eventually this happened in so many places on my racks that it was getting to be a PITA loading/unloading dishes. I've had several dishwashers in my lifetime that never developed such a problem. My parents' Bosch 500 series also never had this issue.
I was quoted like $200-something for each rack and replacing them didn't make sense to put that $$$ into an 8.5-year old dishwasher when Bosch says they design their washers to last at least 8-10 years. When I saw this Home Depot model on sale last weekend at Best Buy, I jumped on it (especially since my TotalTech membership hasn't switched to their new program yet, thus I got free installation). I like the new dishwasher. The racks are a little different, maybe with improved materials, and the Crystal Dry feature is much better than my previous model, which honestly dried OK if you ran the dishwasher overnight.

Just tried with both 10% and 15%. Both stacks with the 25% off product discount, but you'll have to buy the junction box and accessories separately if you want those 15% off also.

For the 15% coupon, your net cost is $872.80. For 10% coupon, your net cost is $884.20.

I'm not fully sure on that one. Might depend on your luck with the store, because the coupon specifically excludes discounted items

People still use reviews on these sites??? LOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

Protip: You'd be hard-pressed to find an appliance that is NOT a 4 or 5 star item. Real world experience dictates this is not the case. Or knock yourself out, go off of the reviews.

does CrystalDry mean this does not have the heating element in the bottom of the tub? CrystalDry is some sort of fan with heat-generating minerals magic.
I have this dishwasher. Yes, there is no heating element on the bottom rack, so plastics are typically safe to put down there. CrystalDry also does an amazing job of drying plastics (better than any other dishwasher I've owned).

Just installed this. Pretty easy to install for a first timer. However, the tub smells a little like burnt plastic, and the inside was damp when I first opened it. Is this normal, and will the burnt smell go away? Going to run out a few times to see if the smell will go away.
