The one we purchased is still going strong, over 6 years later. We just used it for several weeks when my brothers kids came down to visit us. They wanted to get in, so my wife filled it up and let them play in it while they were here. Ours is very easy to maintain. I purchased a small floating chlorine dispenser like you see in those blow up Intex pools. It holds the 1 inch chlorine tablets. We place 2 of those tablets inside it and let it float around the hot tub when we are not in it. Just using that with 2 tablets inside, keeps the water balanced and algae free. We also run the filter about 8 hours a day and the filters are cheap at Walmart during the summer. At the end of the summer when Walmart marks down the chlorine tablets and filters, we stock up.
The heat in ours gets to 104 and stays there as long as you have the heater on. Our electric bill went up only about $8 a month but we live in a rural area where electric is cheaper than most cities. If you lived in say Houston, it may cost you more than that, I'm not sure. As far as the room in the hot tub goes, it won't hold 4-6 people like it claims. My wife and I get in at the same time and it's ok, but a 3rd person and everyone would have to sit cross legged and not move around too much. I got in with the 2 kids and they being pretty small it was ok, but still not a ton of room.
The air jets are loud and I do mean loud. We hardly ever turn that feature on. The kids loved it as it does make a HUGE amount of bubbles and it feels kind of cool when it's on. I suggest if anyone wants to use that feature, put in some earbuds and crank the music up, to drown out the sound.
With that said, I've been using mine during the fall to early spring, this will be year 3 or 4? Still going strong. Totally worth it. I put it in the basement lol. Outside I'd probably get another UV cover if not using for long periods of time....and a thick foam base at a minimum.

No, I actually wrote it while on my job here in Cape Town South Africa. Using my laptop I bought off a slickdeal and sitting in my truck, waiting for my crew to arrive, so we can get on the helicopter and fly out to the oil rig to begin our 30 day rotation. Life is good, God Bless!
We started with a Coleman inflatable from WM several years ago. We ended up using it almost every night after the kids went to bed. After a year and half it got an air leak that would not stay patched. So we upgraded to a real HT and still use it almost every evening Sept through June. I usually drain it for the summer months.
Water is a good conductor, bad insulator.
That's why water cooling is more effective than air cooling, or why room temperature water is less pleasant than room temperature air.
Which model: the blonde or the brunette?
You will want to get chemicals to keep it healthy - think they ran us about 80 bucks and we're still using our initial supply (but will prob have to replenish in the next couple months).
