I highly recommend consumerlabs review of supplements and dietary compounds including whey products. They do a admirable job assessing the literature and studies and conduct tests on products for unlisted or unwanted chemicals. The seem to not have a bias. The organization is worth supporting (IMHO) just for the research they provide, but it does require a subscription. Here's the content on Ace-K.

Acesulfame potassium (Acesulfame K or Ace-K)
Ace-K (Sunett, Sweet One) is a calorie-free sweetener that is 200 times sweeter than sugar, although it may also have a bitter taste. It is heat stable and stays sweet even when exposed to high temperatures during baking (FDA, 2-8-2018; Endotext , 2000, Table 20).
Ace-K has been approved as a general-purpose sweetener since 2003 and is considered safe to consume in daily amounts up to 900 mg/day, which is well below the cumulative estimated daily intake for Ace-K of 313 mg/day (FDA, 21 CFR Part 172 Docket No. 2002F–0220).
Although the carcinogenic chemical methylene chloride is used as a solvent in the manufacturing of Ace-K, laboratory testing has not detected methylene chloride in the final Ace-K product (FDA, 21 CFR Part 172 Docket No. 2002F–0220). Nevertheless, a study of more than 102,000 people in France followed for about 8 years found that those who consumed Ace-K during the first two years of the study had about 12% to 13% increased risk of any cancer compared to those who did not consume Ace-K (Debras, PLoS Med 2022) — although this link does not prove cause-and-effect. - https://www.consumerlab.com/answe...ts-safety/
1 study, that hasnt been repeated...
It had been tested for years before put on the market, 40 years ago.
Its sucrose with 3 hydros replaced with chlor's.
And you need 3 times less of it vs aspartame.

Id be more worried about that under fingernails worth of trans-fat that DOES show up on bloodwork that is peppered in other foods...
Acesulfame Potassium and Sucralose.

Amazing deal. Usually grab strawberry but for this price I'll definitely try the vanilla ice cream flavor.

I hope this has a strong vanilla flavor. I want to make vanilla base protein ice cream for cookies n cream flavor, add in fruits for mango ice cream, strawberry, pineapple ice cream etc. also good this comes in an actual container jug, those pouch bags are sometimes hard to seal

Vanilla is the only Optimum Nutrition flavor I can't stand. It's not about the taste but for some reason the consistency is much, much thicker than any other flavor

I bought 10 pounds of double rich chocolate in Jan 2021 for around $40. Would be nice to see that again but unlikely.

What are you talking about, and what is the actual problem that you have?

If you have it with milk it's pretty much true to its name and tastes like melted vanilla ice cream.

With water it's still good but I personally prefer/recommend any protein powder with sugar free almond/soy milk for cutting.

The vanilla also makes it easy/great to use for other stuff like protein pancakes and of course ice cream

I usually get the vanilla ice cream from Costco. It's very sweet (artificial sugar) and there's some xanthan gum to give it extra thickness like an ice cream.

I don't know how everyone downs their protein shake but I prefer not to taste the flavor at all (the unflavored ones never go on sale). The vanilla ice cream taste is very overpowering and I need something equally strong to counteract it. Usually a fruit smoothie or something distinct and bitter like black coffee or several sachets of earl grey to balance out the sweetness.

Sucralose - it is unbelievable the FDA allow this in food. And tons of 'supplement' companies use it. part of a big big problem!
BuhBy microbiome!
I've always wondered why the Double Rich Chocolate doesn't have sucralose, but the Extreme Milk Chocolate does. Fine with me though, I usually just get DRC instead.

Just like generic vanilla ice cream.

I bought a 10 pound bag of it and don't mind the taste.
