Baldurs Gate is a great game and a better RPG, but Starfield is a great game as well. You wont be missing out with either game.
I much prefer the sci-fi space theme of Starfield over the fantasy D&D of Baldurs Gate
The us versus them mentality, especially when it comes to games, has got to be the dumbest thing I have ever witnessed in my life. Baldur's gate 3 and starfield are both fun games from critically acclaimed companies. Have any of you ever heard of playing both of them? Shocking, I know.

RPGs are an investment in both purchase price, and in terms of time. New RPGs always have a user breaking period too before you can expect to play decently, explore, and have fun without being stuck on things. It's completely reasonable for people to compare them, even if the style of play is dramatically different, because it's unlikely most people have the time to play both at the same time. It's more realistic to play one now, and the other a couple months when it's on sale.

And starfield definitely seems more likely to go on sale. Especially since they announced DLC before the game even game out.

Easy GotY maybe RPG of the decade.

Best, RPG I've played this year is hands down tears of the Kingdom. And yes, I've played baldur's gate 3.

Don't get me wrong, it's a great game, but what Nintendo managed to do in 16 gigs on 7-year-old hardware is nothing short of an engineering miracle and a master class in game design

When they finish the game, sure. For now, it's still Early Access with 80% of the game being Act 1.
Even if that was true, it's very ironic when you're comparing with Bethesda.

Love Bethesda games, but I feel like I may be burned out on them. Not really anything innovative in starfield, just fallout in space. Some will love that, but as someone who expected more I was disappointed. Still can't believe Microsoft paid 11ty billion to buy BGS and make this exclusive to Xbox. The game is good but nothing special like Elden Ring was.
Elden ring wasn't special.... It was just open world souls.... slashing at toes and finding things you can't use. Souls formula is good but it was never great and it has become oversaturated, it is as old as Skyrim... AA devs and indies can successfully copy it.

Nobody has yet to crack/challenge Bethesda's formula. And no Witcher and Zelda don't count, infact those games were straight up cope/seethe they were good but nothing like Bethesda's games. Zelda was more Minecraft then Skyrim. Witcher was just a high production value action adventure game. But Witcher was more prime Bioware then prime Bethesda.

INFACT most people won't even NG+ in Elden ring. Souls formula does not seem to support open world, due to the hostile nature of the game. Everything attacks you and all side quests end in the death of the quest giver so eventually all NPC's are dead. Souls games are meant to be one and done, but if you play agian they make the game harder. But Souls worlds are never somewhere you want to stick around....
