The T7 grey 1TB version is five dollars more ($64.99) on Amazon for those interested.

The only attractive option is the X10 Pro with double the potential speed on any modern motherboard using USB 3.2 Gen 2x2.

Just started looking for another backup drive lately and started to see these SSD deals here. Is $60 good for 1TB right now?

You better off buying internal NVME and USB case for cheaper price and warranty.
Ex: https://a.co/d/c0w8Bwv is $65 and USB/heat spread case is $20-30.

Sandisk Extreme Pro is tempting at this price, but based on confirmed issues with Sandisk drives and no real acknowledgement from the company, I am going to pass.

Anyone has any experience with Crucial 4TB drive. It is at least a TLC drive.

Costco has the Samsung T7 Touch, 2TB for $129. The Touch model has encryption and convenient fingerprint reader directly on the drive.

I just set it up last night. Very straight forward.

T7 shield is marketed wrong - it is not only about being tough case, but t7 shield has better sustainable speeds and performance. I would grab a $99.99 t7 shield from past deals.

I saw an Open box 1TB gray for $50 at my local BB. Decided to go with a geek squad cert 1TB Samsung 980 m.2 instead for $37. That along with an NVMe enclosure seemed like a better deal to me.

Why not just buy a fast NVMe ssd and put it in an external enclosure instead, so much better value

Interesting point. I always thought the T7 shield was just the drop, water, and dust proof. Is there a good article comparing the sustainable performance between T7 and T7 shield?

I have soooo many drives, including those. The T7 and T7 Shield aren't even in the same class. The Shield is waaaaayyy faster and it sustains that speed. I don't have technical numbers but I transferred 2tb in less than 40 min. The regular T7 has a 60gb cache, which means any transfers over 60gb will slow TO A CRAWL lol.
