I have both. I love the Samsung because its a a lot slimmer so it fits easier in my pocket or backpack. It also comes in a lot of colors so I got one that matched my laptop (I knows its ridiculous, but I just like the way it looks).
But I like the sandisk because it slightly outperforms the Samsung in tests, but IMO by so little it doesn't really matter (For me at least). Its bulkier but way more durable. I just clip this thing on the outside of my bag and I'm not worried about tossing it around or it getting water on it.
Either ways you'll get something way quicker than what most people have. I did have to buy another cord for my Sandisk though, I hated the one it came with.

As far as my understanding goes, SSDs only lower the game load time (compared to HDDs). As far as gameplay goes, there should be no difference between an external HDD vs an SSD.

The newest, fastest version of USB 3.2 offers a max speed of 20Gbps and is called USB 3.2 Gen 2x2. (The 2x2 means it's the second generation and has two 10Gbps lanes to achieve its maximum throughput of 20Gbps.) The older USB 3.1 has a single 10Gbps channel and is called USB 3.2 Gen 2.
Good deal - same price as T5 so free speed upgrade. HOWEVER, other than slight dimension diff, T7 tend to overheat sooner and slow down significantly, especially if you transfer large data. This is common and known issue for T7. T5 is actually more consistent in this regard.
Prefer to just get a nvme drive and stick it in a type-c enclosure for the same speed but cheaper price

Is this the lowest price ever? Seems like a good price.
Looks like it. Got it for a similar price with a $15 Amazon coupon recently and they shipped me an ugly box so they shipped another. Second box wasn't as ugly but it was still a little crumpled so they offered $10 off.
Using this on a PS5 to store my PS4 games via the back USB port. Some games run faster off the external SSD compared to the internal PS5 SSD as tested on YouTube.
Only have a couple games on it. Ace Combat and Red Dead Redemption 2. Installing RDR2 on it caused the drive to heat up but playing is cool.
I was gonna say this looks larger than the Sandisk, but it actually is a bit smaller. Might pick it up I've been looking for something like this for a while.....
I was holding out for a 2TB version, but this is such a good deal and it's amazingly compact.
Plan to use it for my PS5 to store PS4 games and I suppose by the time it fills up (won't happen too quickly), maybe we'll find another deal so I can swap out as needed. I'm going to mount my PS5 too, so it helps for the external to be physically small and light.

Any comment on this Samsung T7 vs the Sandisk NVME Extreme via Costco?
