I have it and also an 8, not the newest 2023 version though. This is noticeably better sounding for music and Alexa can hear me from anywhere. I also really like the screen that moves and that has come in handy more than a few times. Considering the new 8 is almost as much as this (bc it's not on sale), I'd go with this over the 8 anyday.

The real question is will this go lower for amazon prime day. I'm not sure if it actually will or if it'll just be this same price.

they dropped the trade discount to 20% now (at least on my account) and also, they got smart
and the 20% discount only comes off the sale price now, whereas for years and years, it always came off the full MSRP Frown

I don't see any practical value of it. Amazon should learn more from apple.
No wonder people in Alexa department got laid off— they can't find the true value of their products.
