Because their favorite tech youtube eceleb probably criticized them. I never had an issue with newegg once.
Because years back they got sold to a Chinese company and the security went out the window and there was a rash of data theft. I had to replace my credit card because of that. At least that is why I don't like dealing with them.
Why do people prefer to avoid Newegg? I was thinking about pulling trigger on some parts with them. I have never used them though.
I can't speak for everyone, but I typically go with Amazon because of their superior return policy, especially when it comes to anything with a screen (monitor, tv, laptop, etc.). Amazon will take back products with screens with as little as a single bad pixel, Newegg requires multiple dead/stuck pixels before they'll accept a return, which is unacceptable to me. There is also the concern about payment security as they've had at least one significant data breach, but I use PayPal when purchasing from them to keep them from having my actual card data.
There's not going to be any socketed Meteor Lake CPUs. So unless AMD does something, Raptor Lake prices will more or less stay where they are.
I'm tempted to jump on this as a i5-12400T upgrade, because I don't see prices going down.
Not quite confirmed true - desktop version is coming next year, they haven't announced socketed vs alternatives (cpu coupled to a mainboard?) https://www.pcworld.com/article/2...oming.html

Be careful Amazon turning scummy. I was going buy a new mobo and they just added language if you open it no returns. They also started to charge to return to ups a few months back. No price renewal for me and Amazon no more reliable shipping either. Down the tubes.

Compared to spending 155 plus 150 on a motherboard assuming you get a z690 ddr4 motherboard
The Intel would maybe be 3-5% faster than the 5700x but at least cost twice as much to change platforms
