Although the Best Buy product listing reads "Save up to $1,140.00 when you trade in a similar device [archive.ph]" (screenshot [archive.org]), there is currently no trade-in value that high. When I collected the data from all 2816 eligible trade-in SKUs, the highest trade-in value was $950.00.

For those who consider upgrading from Pixel 7 to Pixel 8, I don't see much difference between the 2. Paying another $320 for having Pixel 8 instead of Pixel 7 need to question.

yeah, but this comes with a free watch you can enjoy or at least sell for, I'd assume, at least $200-$250 new (since the watch sells for $350).

Also, one huge (to me) upgrade is that the new Pixel allows one to authenticate pretty much everywhere with face, so you may not even have to use the fingerprint reader anymore.

If you choose Pixel 8, it is only a pixel bud pro, not watch.

Just sold my iphone 14 pro max today ($1099 MSRP last year) got $820 cash. I listed my pixel 7 pro ($899 MSRP last year), nobody wants it at $450, I have listed it for more than a month. This is the real diff and reflecting the market condition

if the pixel 8s have the same fingerprint reader as the 7, then I would pass on these. Unreliable, and when it does work, it's still slower than my old pixel 5, 3a, and OG pixels with the reader on the back. It also shocks you if you use it in the dark (e.g. if you're waking up and unlock your phone, you get a blast of bright light from it). And the P7 face unlock is only good in decent lighting.

I got a used Pixel 7 for $400 back in April. Trading it in for the more value feels nice. I'll flip the watch and old Pixel 7 accessories to offset some of the cost of the 8 Pro and new accessories. After all is said and done, I'll end up paying about the same I did for my OP7Pro back in 2019, so not bad at all.

7 years of OS updates is also huge. I've run all my phones until they reached software EoL or the hardware irreparably died. So big plus for me.
