These get more use at Christmas time, but it's good to have a couple extra around for when a use arises.
And if you read my post, no, that is not the issue. These were bought new less than 3 months ago, and all the EP10 smartplugs I got were like that out of the box. The issue isn't that the contacts became loose, it's because they only connect at the very end of the prongs. Most electrical outlets have spring contacts through most of the insertion length, the EP10 only makes contact at like the last 3mm of insertion.
If you're sure the problem isn't the lose contacts in your electrical outlet, then maybe this design doesn't work for the outlet in your house. But it should work for most people. Worst case, if it doesn't work for someone, they can just return it. For only $7 it worth giving it a try.
The recirculation pump is low energy consuming but it keeps on running and the electric water heater is running even when I don't need it to.

I've taken the liberty to show the difference between the Kasa EP10 and another smart plug I have in this video (https://streamable.com/o9a47e) [streamable.com]. You can see how far you need to go in before it starts to connect, and how well each holds onto the plug.

Regarding the grip of the contacts, they aren't as tight as other outlets/plugs, but I haven't had any problems with plugs falling out. Grabbing an AC adapter, I can lift the whole power strip the plug it connected to.
Even with their smaller size, these will likely block multiple outlets on a power strip, unless the outlets are spaced farther apart then usual. You can plug a power strip into the smart plug, but then the smart plug won't be (as well) protected by the power strip and you'll need to be mindful of the total load.

Commercial unit makes a racket when on so it's only on during the night which lasts the whole day
Only downside is the kasa plugs even with energy monitoring don't tell you an hourly amount of energy being used. It just says how much used over the day and right now.
Changed to an emporia smart plug. That one graphs it to the minute (or even seconds) so I can see how many times it actually revs up over the night and only have it on that amount of time during the night.
