But demand for guitars did lower this year (I think) so there have been more deals this year than usual.
One could theorize that a glut in inventory for foreign guitars - and thus better deals, means that there will be less demand for the US-made guitars. And I have seen some of that - but what I've also noticed is that a lot of the guitars getting steep discounts at Adorama and ProAudioStar became out-of-stock or 'special order' afterwards, which suggests it's unlikely there will be any more good discounts on those for a while.
AFAIK the MSRP hasn't gone down either. So... anyone's guess at this point. I noticed that outside of Adorama and PAS, there are a number of guitar stores on reverb that randomly offer good deals - usually on "mint" guitars that are "used but look brand new! we promise! They just happened to be sitting in a customer's closet!" lol.
I get that nothing beats a fresh new guitar, but some of these bad boys are hard to find even used and these steep discounts are very rare on some of these models.
To each their own though

With this 20% off sale, I have a better chance of moving these online. After what ends up being almost 10% of seller's fees, plus having to pay for shipping myself, I'm only making about 8% on the guitars. Not including overhead. So basically breaking even. That's only if I'm selling them online though. I'm making about 18% profits on these if I sell them in a store. Might sound like a lot, but if we only made 18% on everything we'd go out of business.
It hurts a lot of the smaller dealers, but for large dealers like Sam Ash and GC they can afford to take the hit since they buy in big bulk amounts anyway. Sorta the reason I feel less bad about this coupon trick working here than someplace like Small Guitar Shop in Small Town, USA.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that's also why Sam Ash is okay with taking backorders, because they'll just move more stock from PRS themselves. They can afford to take the margin hit given the scale at which they sell stuff.

Not as hot as it used to be, but still pretty good.

EDIT: Alright, I think I'm done editing deals in. The big kicker on this deal is the stacking discount on PRS stuff which they're probably not too cool with (see how quickly the other deals came and went).
None of the coupons work now on anything. - I was, lucky to get in on the PRS Swamp Ash special for essentially 32% off retail
Reported expired
I ordered a fender ultra strat with the 15% coupon last night. Not quite as smoking a deal but I'm eagerly looking forward to it. And it "shipped" this morning!

Judging this comment here they would probably send an email if it got cancelled, so fingers crossed we'll still get a guitar sometime in the future...
