And do the math. It's not 7 inches smaller. Tension is not an issue when using the short scale strings it comes with (I use Thomastik Infeld JF324's on mine and they, like the frets, are flawless).

I'd bite if it wasn't black it's gonna smudge like crazy (Ibanez feature) and it just looks so boring. The only worse color is the sunburst that looks like a 1970s garage band.

I bought 2 more since then to experiment with different strings and different setups.
Shorter scale length has advantages and disadvantages, but for a lot of people, it's a net positive for ergonomics and playability. Sound wise, short scale basses sound bigger and deeper as the shorter strings have less loud harmonics and more fundamental than long scale basses.
It's $130. That makes it a supreme value position in all of music instruments.
