FYI I decided to return my ultra 2 watch. Best Buy charged me 32$ for "free" Apple music they automatically added. Just because they emailed me the code. It was ordered as Best Buy "drop".

This is a great price. The watch however is too heavy and bulky. It is not necessary at all unless you do diving frequently. I wore one for the past year and finally traded it in for a regular one 30% lighter.

I don't own any Apple watches but as an owner of multiple Apple products, if you can, get the newer version. It's not the powerful chip or any of that. With the newer chip, you'll most likely get a year or two more software support. When a new iOS update rolls around and your Ultra 2 gets the update and the original Ultra doesn't, you'll be glad you spent the extra bucks. If you plan on trading-in or sell your watch a couple of years later, by all means, get whichever.

Apple is still supporting my many year old apple watch 4. In fact they support for many years so no reason to put more money and just buy the latest.

Tempting, but still happy with my 45MM / S9 / SS Amazon deal with the pricing error at $491.44 - haven't opened it yet, but think this may be as low as it gets for a new one for about 6 months. Also wanted to get into the new round of processors for longer feature support...

How are you happy with it if you haven't opened it yet to compare it to this? The pricing you got is great although it is for a different device.

it was 599, + an optional 99 for apple care+, but i wouldn't have paid 699 for the watch alone. (can't strikethrough so leaving this for context, but it was indeed 699 on their site before statement credits)

edit to add - they had a 10% statement credit via MyECP (military star credit card) on top of the sale price, so it ended up being $629, not $599

I have a AW7. Definitely considering the Ultra2 because it would meet several upgrades for me. But AW7 is a pretty good spot right now. It was the first year for faster charging which battery is the #1 complaint with the watches. AW7 has the latest heart rate monitor tech so idk. I'd like to see glucometer CGM option. Probably will wait for AW10 and hope it brings something big.

Friend bought a AW9 and I played with it some. The processor is definitely noticeable. I know you're stuck in your opinion. And I get it you want it to be true since you have a Ultra1. But check out some YouTube reviews.
