4 lines $100 + tax x 24 months = ~ $3,000
+ 4 iphones for trade in = ~ 800
Total = $3,800

Price of 4 iPhones 15 = $830 x 4 = $3,320
Price of Service for 2 yeas = ~ 480 = 20 a month = $5 per line
Be sure to check but I think essentials plan does not include taxes and fees. It says 4--38% for taxes!!! That means up to about $45/month in Taxes. I couldn't see anything about eligible phones except the blurb for iPhone 11 trade is enough for a free iPhone 15 and the iPhone 7 is only valued at about $415 off, so probably other models are somewhere in between.

More details needed!
I can confirm that essentials price does not include taxes and fees. For 6 lines in NC taxes and fees is about 28$ total.

I have an old plan that's $100/month for 4 lines and can add additional lines up to 10 total at $10 each - could I switch to this plan and get the 'free' iphones? This essentials plan seems about on par with what I have now.
I have exactly the same plan. I also got a ro motion of international calling free back then which is now Stateside plan at TMobile. Unfortunately I need to add 2 more to make it 12 lines but Costco rep, and phone rep both said 10 is the max you get on any type of plan with TMobile. I would like to hear someone who has more than 10lines.

A TMobile customer here: make sure you check fine print of these "deals" carefully. Personally I got unpleasantly surprised with some of their offerings which turned out not to be as promised.
I ended up filing a complaint with FCC and wasting a lot of time trying to have them honor the original contract details.

This is a pretty good deal if it fits your needs of 4 lines. It's priced similar to my Advantage/Sero account carryover from Sprint with unlimited data.

Buy iphone 14s.. really not much of a difference. Get Mint Mobile if you are not heavy data user.

T-mobile needs to go back to their non-greedy base when Legere started first Uncarrier. They are as big of crooks right now as they other ones are.
Can attest to that. Bought business $160/month plan with taxes+fees included. All byod. First bill: $405.35. Had to spend hours trying to sort it out.

This plan has unlimited data (50GB being premium), but video streaming (Netflix, Apple TV, YouTube, etc) is throtted down to 480P. Unless you're just web browsing all day, you can't take full advantage of T-mobile's 5G network.

What trade in are you using in this math?
Meaningless comparison of T-mobil's service and some one else's (you don't even mention which provider) $5/month/line service.

Is this the best option to get out of the ONE plan. I see they no longer have any promos for the one plan now.
Yes if you need new phones, if you are not taking advantage on Kickback and if tax inclusion does not offset the saving.

I think TMOBILE right now can be considered pioneer of the new era of crookiness in mobile carrier industry

Completely agree. As soon as Legere announced his departure, I knew it was only a matter of time before they started bumping up all the prices, and that's exactly what's happened. I switched over to mint mobile, but even that's not safe because now T-Mobile acquired Mint mobile. So I expect Mint mobile to go up in price pretty soon.

I think Google Fi has something similar right now and uses tmo network. 4+ lines, $20/line but 35gb before throttle + 5gb hotspot. So 15gb less high speed data, + 5gb hotspot, $20 less, no phone subsidy incentives.

I have 2 lines ONE for $100 (with taxes).

The only downsides to this plan is that it only has 3G hotspot and no Premium data. Is this Essentials plan worth moving over to?
