I've been looking for a new ultrabook and was going to get a Lenovo X1C with an Intel U CPU but many have complained about the thermals. I know there were even more thermal/throttling complaints with the previous gen X1C that used the 12xxP CPU.
I have a 12th gen processor 16" 2-in-1 LG Gram which I LOVE. The only negative is the lack of a fingerprint reader which appears to apply to this model as well. I ended up getting a tiny USB fingerprint reader which works really well but it does occupy full time one of the of very few USB slots. Also not mentioned is that these Grams have room for a second M2 drive which is pretty easy to install. Really a fantastic laptop for the road warrior.
I have been using this model for almost a year now, bought from a local Costco.
I had it connected to two external monitors through a thunderbolt dock.
Even without heavy loads (internet browsers/excel/word/Autocad), CPU temp goes up to 90'C making it shutdown without prior notice or throttling it down severely. Now I use throttle stop to disable turbo boost.
Also it reboots by itself within 5 min of startup without being overheated. I checked all windows update options to toggle off auto reboot.
As a Korean I have been loyal customer of LG for many appliances and laptop but maybe I would go for dell or lenovo next time. maybe 1260p can be blamed..
I have this same exact laptop don't get it. I gets super hot. It doesn't feel sturdy. The screen weighs as much the keyboard side.
I think the NON touch model is much better than this. I can understand your point about the screen. The Gram keyboard shell is probably the same on the touch and non touch. The screen is much heavier on this one due to the touch features.
