How does this deal compare to the 7800 XT?
I didn't see a 7800 xt deal so I'm assuming you're asking about the cards themselves.
Last I knew the 7800 xt was the more power efficient 6800 xt. Some benchmarks had 6800 xt better in some games and 7800 xt in others but largely the same. Unsure if driver updates helped that at all.

Not really interested in this whole zip pay thing that newegg is doing, I'll try to hold out until black friday. Hopefully there will be a better deal with a better vendor.

from my exp. you get the best deals with things like zip pay / credit card offerings within 1 month leading up to black friday.
In terms of non-ray-traced performance rx 6800xt = rx 7800xt = rtx 4070 -all roughly equal.
In terms of ray-traced performance rtx 4070 > rx 7800xt > rx 6800xt (with the 6800xt about 14% behind the 4070 as the slowest of the 3 in ray-tracing).
In terms of power-efficiency rtx 4070 > rx 7800xt > rx 6800xt.

Do you have to use the discount code with zip pay ? It lets me apply it at checkout and it applies the discount but will it remove it after i pay with a credit card ?

Yeah, ZIPFAN won't work with credit card payment on Newegg itwelf. But you can pay zippay with your credit card immediately, extra cost is $7, and there's no credit check, so it's worth it.

4070 has better upscale tech. Much better at ray-tracing. 7800 xt rasterized about 5% faster at 1440P, 16 vs 12 GB vram. I'm going to upgrade soon and between the two I'm having a hard time making a choice. At 144O p with high Ray tracing you can go over that 12G on the 4070. Slow single player games that Ray tracing looks good. For mult player games Ray tracing not needed as much if at all. Dlss on the 4070 much better looking than FSR on the AMD cards. I'm still stuck with making a choice.

"Light Ray" tech still has too many hurdles via performance hit and technology implementation - it's still niche and immature. There are however people that have to have everything ticked on, best to let them have it for the few titles that have it.
Upscaling tech is a crap show. It was supposed to allow higher than 60 fps and/or higher resolution. We instead got crap optimisation and it's almost a requirement just to render some of these recent titles as playable. The most recent DLSS is better at most things, but the upcoming FSR will likely have both doing a decent enough job at covering up sloppy programming.
I think the market is still what we've known for the past 5+ years: bang for buck and gamers for Radeon, professional creators for GeForce.
7800xt is a more power efficient 6800xt, could be anywhere from 0-20% faster (game dependent). Newer RDNA3 tech is better than RDNA2, once developers start fully utilizing all features from both.

I would say it was niche two years ago. It is now on most of the new AAA games.
