I've had the same model for 3 years. It's really great, and this price is probably as good as it will get. Plenty of handy accessories out there for it as well.

This is not Duo. Correct? Any benefits of getting duo or what am I losing really if I get this?
Good question, didn't notice until you asked.

In the Q&A that question was also asked and target or the mfr replied "this unit is the same as the Duo Plus model" so, naming aside, it's Duo and then some!

I wonder if it will be any cheaper on BF..
With the cheap knock-offs like Insignia being recalled, they might see a sales bump this year as people avoid the cheapo brands. I'd be surprised if this goes lower, though I'm sure there will be deals on their higher end models.

I bought a 6 when they first came out, a Walmart special and I received an 8 as a gift. I use the 6 at least once a week. I prefer the SS inner pot. It doesn't wear out like the nonstick. The only thing I don't like is it's not a good slow cooker. That's what my crock pot is for, so not a deal breaker.

We bought a 6qt pro plus directly from InstantPot at $128 around 2 weeks ago .. it's been great.. just thought of getting the latest model as it lasts almost a decade or more.. need to fully explore though..

What came out of them filing for bankruptcy?
Ya, I would be worried about warranties, they did file for Bankruptcy.

Buy the extended warranty not from them for $9? The base warranty is just one year but not affected even though they are chapter 11, is my understanding.

I wouldn't. Duo's last years. They are also easily repairable. A 50 cent internal fuse fixes the no power issue. CL i.p. price used has risen. Today it is $60 or more. The reason for bankruptcy is selling a well built appliance plus competition from less well built clones. Pro was $80 earlier this year but not now. Today this DUO Plus is the best deal.

Rice is pretty fun:

I have 3 units at this point, a good 10 years or so in...I can dump rice or potatoes in one, frozen veggies in another, and meat in a third one, push a few buttons, and have dinner ready to go hands-free! It's fun because;

1. You can do really simple push-button meals, such as a single bowl of oatmeal or hardboiled eggs

2. You can do more complex meals, but also save time (ex. kalua pig takes 90 minutes in the Instapot, as opposed to 16 HOURS in the crockpot)

3. You don't have to babysit it while cooking...you can surf the net, watch a show, etc. while it does all the work!

I wouldn't really recommend this. Things stick too easily to the inside and the heating element is weak. It's okay for pressure cooking, but I'd consider this an entry throw-away stepping stone to something better. What that is... I don't know. But I don't like this unit.

Don't be me last year, this year. Be me this year, last year and tell yourself to not buy it.
Way off base. Stainless is far superior to the no stick versions. I've had mine for 6 years and use the $#%€ out of it. Still works flawlessly.

This deal seems to come around once every year. Grabbed it last time, no regrets, it's a useful kitchen appliance.
