I received iPhone 13 today from walmart..
After inserting the SIM card and activating it, I chatted with Verizon.
The first agent refused the payoff and said it would be possible in 14 days.
The second agent sent me the URL right away and I paid $299.
Then I cancel line. I need 60days for unlock.

I tried to do it with an iPhone 14 in walmart.com when I saw this deal. It asked me to login to my Verizon (I'm with vzn), and asked for permission to pull credit. I declined. I think anything with a payment plan will need a credit check.

Though this is 36 months contract , but once you activate the line, you can pay off it via chat rep or in cash in verizon store . Once phone is paid , you can cancel the line with in 3 days to avoid activation / upgrade fees. Wait for 60 days to unlock the device.

THIS IS NOT MONTHLY CREDITS. AMOUNT FINANCED will be $299 or $99 , depends which phone you select.

I called 888-516-2614, then option 2, then option 5.

Editing to clarify that this is the number for the Walmart payments department.

Thanks for the info - I contacted them and they said they would refund the difference. Have you seen your refund yet?

Where do you suggest porting to? Wonder if I can port to the Metro S23 FE deal or if that would mess with the 6 mo unlock

That sounds risky but may work. You can try the ATT unlock trick.

I am trying to order now but its showing 11/17 arrival date. Wondering if I should wait for Monday rather than order right before a weekend
What is ATT unlock trick.?

When you get the phone immediately swap the sim to an old inactive AT&T sim, power on go through setup etc until it connects to network
Then go to AT&T unlock webpage and select don't have a number, input the IMEI, you'll get a confirmation email where you click confirm then it should unlock.
Make sure sim is inactive
Make sure not to power on with Verizon sim still in or it will lock to Verizon…

Update: I waited until the phone was delivered today and then cancelled via chat. I never turned the phone on or used the service prior to this. After politely asking and mentioning my horrible in store experience of trying to pay the device off last night I eventually got the bill down to Zero. Bill estimate was $10.xx and I was promised that would be credited so I owe zero.

I then used the ATT sim trick, I was a little scared to try it but it worked just as described. My new phone is now active on my carrier of choice and shows "no sim restrictions".

Thanks to everyone for your research and tips. I was concerned this wouldn't work when I was denied paying in store but it all worked out!
sounds like we can pay off and cancel without receiving the phone to turn it on VZN network, than use ATT sim trick to unlock

Is anyone able to clarify when the 3 day countdown starts for activation fee refund on Verizon? Order date or ship date or phone activate when you turn it on date?

Ordered my verizon phone on 11/8, arriving on 11/11. I have not noted the phone number at the time placing the order. How do i get phone number or account number without turning the phone on.

Does any one know who they pull from? I would need to unfreeze credit report.
Experian. I turned up at my local store as they had 2 available and had to unfreeze my credit. Took a while, but got there in the end. Word of warning - if you sign up for an experian account they automatically sign you up for a checking account!! Its a check box you cant uncheck - had to make a call later to close that shit down!

So I picked the AT&T phone from Walmart B&M today, the guy put the sim card in and activated it. Hence I can't do the tricks (I tried, but it didnt work). I thought it was no big deal since we have AT&T anyway. But when I put the AT&T sim card (from another account), this new lock phone is not working (unable to activate)... Now I'm confused

So a $1 ATT MVNO sim card like this @ Best Buy would work for the Verizon unlock trick?

I ordered Verizon iPhone 13 on 11/8. Verizon gave me a new number even though I said I would transfer my existing number.
I am wondering if it is ok to keep my existing phone number with my current carrier and cancel Verizon with a new number. Or should I transfer my existing number to Verizon then cancel the line and go back to my current carrier?
