I received iPhone 13 today from walmart..
After inserting the SIM card and activating it, I chatted with Verizon.
The first agent refused the payoff and said it would be possible in 14 days.
The second agent sent me the URL right away and I paid $299.
Then I cancel line. I need 60days for unlock.

I tried to do it with an iPhone 14 in walmart.com when I saw this deal. It asked me to login to my Verizon (I'm with vzn), and asked for permission to pull credit. I declined. I think anything with a payment plan will need a credit check.

Though this is 36 months contract , but once you activate the line, you can pay off it via chat rep or in cash in verizon store . Once phone is paid , you can cancel the line with in 3 days to avoid activation / upgrade fees. Wait for 60 days to unlock the device.

THIS IS NOT MONTHLY CREDITS. AMOUNT FINANCED will be $299 or $99 , depends which phone you select.

We can't unlock your device until all device installment payments have been made. To unlock, sign in to your account to review and pay off your installment plan.

You can submit a new unlock request 24 hours after your account shows the device has been paid off.
Try again. Wait maybe like 8 to 12 hours

Should I do 24 hours just to be safe? The tutorial states "DO NOT attempt more than twice or you will be blocked for 24 hours."

Also since I just activated the SIM card today, I have three more days to cancel the service right? Is it fine if I wait until tomorrow to get the phone unlock, and cancel service then? Or would it be better to cancel service now?

Many thanks!

Are you able to unlock your phone? Have you cancelled the line to avoid activation fee?

Finally got my Verizon iPhone 13 delivered today. Booted it up with an AT&T prepaid SIM I purchased from Target, showed locked to AT&T, then I submitted for the unlock on AT&T's website as a non customer. Their website kinda glitched out (was saying there was an error) but eventually it submitted. Confirmed the unlock request via email and right after that got the confirmation of the approved unlock. Phone is showing no SIM restrictions. Woo!

I'm still a little confused with activation date vs order date and the 3 day grace period - but assume 3 day grace period for returns/cancels start on order date?

Activation would be when you get the phone or when the phone shows up on your account with an installment date?

For AT&T iPhone, you should have received an email titled "Hello, Review your AT&T order", which contains the customer service summary. In the summary, it will tell you the new line activation date, the upcoming bill amount, as well as the cancellation.

In my customer service summary, the activation date is the same as my order date which is 11/11/2023. Unfortunately, the phone arrived late at 11/14/2023 and I still wasn't able to unlock the phone yet, so I guess the following

1. I'd have to pay the $35 activation fee since 3 days is almost up
2. I'll try to port out the number before unlocking the phone, and hopefully don't have to pay the activation fee.

Not sure if #2 is a viable option since the SIM swap trick tells to unlock the phone before porting out.

Cancellation Policy
Wireless: You may terminate this Agreement within 14 days of activation without paying an ETF. Any activation fees will be refunded if you cancel within 3 days of activation. You are responsible for all fees and charges incurred through cancellation and must return any equipment purchased with this Agreement. If you terminate after 14 days, you may be charged an ETF for each phone number or equipment associated with this Agreement. See att.com/equipmentetf. Service automatically renews monthly (following any Service Commitment period, if any) unless you cancel. See att.com/cancellationpolicy for cancel policy and att.com/howtocancel for information on how to cancel. For any add-on you add to your line that has a monthly recurring charge, the add-on service automatically renews monthly unless cancelled. You may cancel add-ons at att.com/myatt.

And when does the CSS show up? I haven't received the email about reviewing my changes yet, which is weird since when I ordered an iPhone 15 Pro Max from Apple on another line during launch, I got those emails near instant or the following day.

I ordered the phone Sunday from Walmart - AT&T acct shows the phone line off to the side, not in my devices section yet; but it moved to device that I can manage now as of the 14th.

I actually got the same situation like you when try to unlock ATT iPhone 13. what I did was:
  • activate the phone with any ATT SIM card
  • Pay off the phone
  • Put that ATT SIM card into another unlocked iPhone, make some calls, data etc, and wait that unlocked phone to fully show up on your ATT account.
Remember don't put that ATT SIM card back to your locked iPhone 13. Try to submit unlock request, if you get message like denied or wait 24h etc, you can always call or chat ATT CSR, provide them you ATT account number and indicate to unlock an iPhone 13 you paid off, ATT can always push the unlock request thru on their end no matter what.

Just chat ATT CSR they can still unlock it for you right now even if you got 24h waiting message.

Thanks! Do you have any data point for canceling the line before unlocking the phone from AT&T?

Still a cloudy area. I've been told by vzw staff it starts when you turn on phone but contract days once shipped

Obviously the trade in credit means you are locked for 3 years
Pay off within 3 days and the iPhone 14+ becomes $779 including a $500 WMGC.

"Basically $279"(plus tax on $779) assuming you can make use of the $500 WMGC on groceries/whatever
