Nice deal, but I'm waiting for a deal on the regular Ultra. This LT is the cheaper version that lacks Dolby support.

Same processor and same ram in Ultra and Ultra LT. Less features and downgraded remote for sure.

but for anyone concerned if it is discontinued or unsupported, it's still a "current" model:

"Roku is currently manufacturing these products and they are fully supported."

Roku Ultra LT appears to be Walmart specific - this may not include the pro version of the remote that includes the remote finder feature.

Roku LT is the gimped walmart version. It is missing USB and microSD slot compared to regular LT.

It you must have Roku platform or need ethernet this is fine. But Onn box for 20 bucks gives you more options including sideloading

Does anyone know if Roku has updated the remotes to control your reciever volume and power?
My Roku ultra remote does. I bought it over 2 years ago.

Would this do better than the HDMI-stick Roku's for streaming cable channels (like YouTubeTV, etc)?

My current HDMI-stick Roku's around the house get a hot/overheating warning message after continuous streaming use.

Do you have to join Walmart+ for this, or jump on it as soon as it goes live - or can normal people buy it whenever they decide to on Wednesday?

Yes it's gimped and no remote finder either. Even at $34 it's not much to write home about. Only plus is Ethernet, at best.

Why post straight up wrong information? It has the same processor and RAM as the Ultra. And even the old version had the same as the old Ultra.

Yes, it's a separate box that connects with a regular HDMI cable. It probably has a better processor than the sticks too.

In my experience it depends on the remote & the TV. I've got a few different Rokus & 1 Roku TV. Using the remote from a higher end Roku adds features to a cheaper Roku, but stuff like controlling the TV or ARC with the Roku TV varies depending on the device you're trying to use the Roku with -- it's not universally compatible.

I've not had Any problems ever with our Rokus heating up, so you may have a bad one. That said, the Ultra is more responsive than the sticks [or my Roku TV]. With the sticks [or TV] I have to wait a second or three after selecting an app to load -- with the Ultra it happens faster. Once the video's streaming I don't see any difference -- the cheap sticks work just as well as the Ultra.

Does it need a subscription to watch roku?
It runs apps, just like a phone. There are free ad supported apps & many that require subscriptions. The choices of what you can watch vary from one to the next.

I'm not up to date all on Roku boxes and all the different versions you can get. But is this something that a person who lives in different hotels a lot for work can use easily to watch their shows abroad? Do you hotspot to your phone or something?
With a VPN. It's like using the same apps on your phone or connecting to a streaming site with your laptop -- your geolocation over the web allows you to connect, or not.

... Most apps compress the hell out of their stuff to keep the bandwidth down so their 4k would have no issues over wifi unless you have a lot of people streaming or gaming etc concurrently.
Purely FWIW... It's the services rather than the apps themselves that compress the streams to fit through the pipes, though the app *may* have a role in downgrading the stream's bit rate because of insufficient bandwidth. WiFi however can be a can of worms... there's your household WiFi traffic as you mention, which can be mitigated depending on the router. There are potential issues with the WiFi signal being blocked by whatever's between the Roku & the router, or nearest access point. One or more WiFi channels may be over-congested, e.g., from neighbors etc...
