I've done a couple briskets on mine (in addition to random other grilling, picanha & chicken on the joetisserie, etc) and everything comes out so delicious.
If I didn't already have the KJ Classic I, I might consider this but that is definitely a lot of money to throw down on a grill
It's identical to a classic Joe or large BGE. It came with 2 tier rack and a lava stone. Literally the exact same thing. Vision customer service is also stellar. No reason not to use them
Comparing it to my pitboss pellet grill they are about equal in food quality and I pay around $200-300 every 5 years for a new grill.
So not really any Kamado Joe tree, I just work with supply chain and logistics who order stuff like this regularly for industrial supply, so breaking all these costs down is easy. There is nothing high tech about this, that would have absurd high component costs, it is primarily all just bulk raw materials and machining. If I had to guess their shipping costs are probably one of the biggest costs in the sale of these products. Still nothing to justify the price tag though in my opinion, but people who got money to throw away its cool. Like buying a dyson when you know a shark or another brand will do the same thing for $100's less.
