Why the fark did Apple decide to :
1. Remove the thunderbolt port on the right side?
2. Reduce the memory bandwidth on all but the most expensive configuration?
3. Reduce the number of performance cores and gpu cores?
4. Not improve on external monitor resolution support?
And this is after the significant price increase for the more advanced models. Sigh!

The thunderbolt port on the right is only removed on the M3 machine, not the M3 Pro or M3 Max. The performance CPU and GPU cores were reduced in the M3 Pro configurations, but were both increased in the M3 Max configurations. The price was increased (relative to the M2 spec for spec) only for the M3 Max, it was actually reduced for the M3 Pro relative to the M2 Pro. The price adjustments are in line with what they did with the M3 Pro (decrease performance and GPU cores) and M3 Max (increase performance and GPU cores) chips respectively.

I think clearly what Apple intended here was to widen the difference between the M3 Pro and Max to make it more worth it to more people to upgrade to the M3 Max. Before, the CPU cores were the same between the M2 Pro unbinned chip and the M2 Max, so unless you needed the extra GPU cores or the higher max memory, there was no reason to upgrade. This year, it looks like the M3 Pro is more of a side grade to the M2 Pro (better more efficient 3nm chipset evened out by less performance cores) while they improved the M3 Max relative to the M2 Max a decent amount.

Not saying I agree with what Apple did or that I'm defending their new chip designs, just stating what I think Apple's doing.

Yep. I know. Just tried and this deal is still very much active. I don't know why SD voted this expired.

Register for the free Adomora VIP account, be logged in, refresh the page, then add the promo code. It's that simple. Don't know why so many had trouble replicating. Tried this on Chrome, Safari, and iOS safari all no issues.

Baffling.

I think the promo code was only for AppleCare. The 1799 was the price for all Adorama VIP members.

So only the AppleCare discount went away.

In their Return Policy section, they listed notebooks as non returnable. Has anyone ever returned a notebook to them?

Anyone else still seeing the backorder tag on their order? I mean it makes sense since the computer has not even come out yet, but if tomorrow comes and goes and it still says the computer is on backorder I might begin to worry a bit.

Yes, it said in the order email it's back ordered until shipped. We'll see what happens today!

I just chat with Adorama customer service. She said Upon checking, the manufacturer will begin shipping this item this week. Orders will be filled on a first come first serve basis.

I think we all got bumped to the back of the line or they didn't get a ton of these. All I've gotten is an email that it's backordered but that's better than a cancellation email and I'm willing to wait for the discount and $129 Apple Care+ and figure I can cancel if a better deal comes along in the meantime.

That's what they have told me. They told me Apple would email me the tracking information when shipped and acted like it was out of their hands. I've asked for the Apple Order information so I could ask Apple about it but they haven't provided anything yet
