Got my order for 2 phones delivered today, and got them both activated to start the countdown clock on the unlock. For anyone who bought one just to activate for the one-month plan you purchased and unlock, the easiest way is the automated phone service (the online process wasn't working for me):

1) 1-877-430-2355
2) Press 2 to Activate Device
3) Press 2 for a New Number
4) Follow voice prompt to enter IMEI, ZIP code, create PIN, etc. When asked by the prompt if you want to "add to an existing account", say "No". If you purchased a plan with the phone, it will recognize this and automatically activate the SIM for the plan.

When the voice prompt tells you to power on the device, the instructions were incomplete and unclear. If you've never activated a phone before here are the steps:

1) Attached to the box for your phone is the associated SIM card in a pouch; remove and punch out the nano-SIM.
2) Using the SIM tool in the iPhone box (or a small paperclip), pop out your SIM card tray and insert the nano-SIM.
3) Re-insert the SIM tray into the iPhone and power on the phone.
4) Go through the setup process; I recommend connecting to WiFi when prompted to make things go faster.
5) Your phone should be activated within a few minutes of being powered on with the SIM inserted, assuming you went through all the steps in the automated phone activation.

So no luck at Tega Cay, SC Walmart. They did have at least 2 in stock. The guy was nice looking into it for 30 mins or so. He finally found out the Walmart had to have the WARP system for in-store phone activation so call up or local Walmart to ask if they have that. He mentioned the store in Rock Hill, SC on Dave Wylie had the WARP system.

I'm not going to waste my time going there, but thought I'd help others. Be sure to call the local Walmart you are going to, ask if they have the phone in stock (both stores said online they didn't have stock, but both stores did have them in stock) and ask if they have the WARP system for activation. Good luck everyone.

Yes done it three times now. Use it a few times with the straighttalk network for a few days first though. Text, call, browse then 61 days later unlocked.

Are people buying this phone to use as a main phone, trade in for a better one? I haven't had an iPhone since iPhone 8 i believe. Been using a Samsung s8+ and currently a71 5g. But yeah, $100 for a potentially unlocked iphone and mainly for use with apple watch. I don't think I'll ever buy the higher end iphones due to price unless my family gets an tmboile upgrade promo in the future where they get multiple phones or BOGO deal.

Most people here are just buying it to trade in to apple for a gift card, they won't even turn the phone on.
Right now trade in value at Apple is $155. Doesn't seem worth it for $50. But I saw some people say it can be used for trade in at t mobile, which seems to give much better value ($800?). But tmobile seems expensive service wise for new customers. Are there any other companies that will give a good trade in value? I have been consider metro t mobile but the trade in is only $85.

This is so Tracfone! Looks like a few "lucky" ones are NOT so lucky after all. Those of us whose orders didn't conform to the current "rules" and are still in the "pending remote fulfillment" status may never hear from them. Hopefully they'll give us a quick refund. What a drama!
4/5 I ordered without a plan shipped. 1 did not get shipped email. Remaning 3/6 (with plan) got shipped email.

Mine also stuck in approved status. (Phone only, no plan, which was totally allowed at the time, e.g. no requirement to purchase any plan.) Ordered at 9am ET 11/06.

Any good, legal ways to give them a taste of their own medicine? This is a pretty awful move from a branding standpoint.

I tried something at walmart today and it worked perfectly and was able to purchase 2 more phones at $45 each without any plan purchase. I was little hesitant to try for the third time on the same number as the offer is valid twice per account or person and luckily it worked for the third time and I am not sure how many times we can do this on a single phone number.

I followed these steps to purchase the phones without any plans:

1. Purchased a new phone with $35 plan and activated immediately to get the phone number associated with the new account. I think if you already have a straight talk account then you can skip this step and go to the next step.
2. Visited the other walmart store having this phone in stock and asked the rep to add the new line to this account and as soon as he entered the phone number and account pin it showed three options to add a new line, add a new line with port in and there is a third option that is something similar to the upgrade like we have on the postpaid phones as it showed that this line is eligible for upgrade
3. I asked the rep to try the upgrade option and after all the steps and the final payment showed only $49 and the existing plan of $35 was selected for this new phone.
4. I paid the amount of $49+ taxes for the second phone and inserted the new sim card attached to the new phone and it got activated successfully with the existing number on the account

5. I checked the unlock date of the first phone as soon as its activated and got a response that the device will be unlocked by this date. As soon as I transferred the same line to the new phone, I checked the unlock date for this second phone and it also sent me a text that this second device will be unlocked by this date.

On my straight talk account, I can see 2 IMEIs of the phones with status as INACTIVE and the third phone which I purchased at last and activated on the same phone number is showing ACTIVE on the account. This is expected as the line was transferred from one phone to another and they are showing the first two IMEIs INACTIVE on the account

When Walmart activates the phone in store does the employee open the box or just scan it?
Just scanned, not Walmart employee. The cell phone specialist person.

She scanned on the cellphone workstation then checked me out at Walmart register next to it

Went home, poped in both sim cards, they already have phone numbers assigned. And got text with Jan 6 2024 auto unlock date in text.

Pretty smooth

That got blocked a long time ago, and the ones that did it are getting their orders cancelled. Read all 1600 posts...

From what I remember for the iphone 11 they didn't notify either. You had to find out on the website or check the tracking.

And it was either chargeback or wait a month for them to suddenly refund your money. If you chargeback Tracfone will put you on their list.
I might have to open dispute with my cc since the ST order was not discounted at all (my fault for not checking lol) but the question is shall I do it after 60 days just incase they put me on the black list?
