Got my order for 2 phones delivered today, and got them both activated to start the countdown clock on the unlock. For anyone who bought one just to activate for the one-month plan you purchased and unlock, the easiest way is the automated phone service (the online process wasn't working for me):

1) 1-877-430-2355
2) Press 2 to Activate Device
3) Press 2 for a New Number
4) Follow voice prompt to enter IMEI, ZIP code, create PIN, etc. When asked by the prompt if you want to "add to an existing account", say "No". If you purchased a plan with the phone, it will recognize this and automatically activate the SIM for the plan.

When the voice prompt tells you to power on the device, the instructions were incomplete and unclear. If you've never activated a phone before here are the steps:

1) Attached to the box for your phone is the associated SIM card in a pouch; remove and punch out the nano-SIM.
2) Using the SIM tool in the iPhone box (or a small paperclip), pop out your SIM card tray and insert the nano-SIM.
3) Re-insert the SIM tray into the iPhone and power on the phone.
4) Go through the setup process; I recommend connecting to WiFi when prompted to make things go faster.
5) Your phone should be activated within a few minutes of being powered on with the SIM inserted, assuming you went through all the steps in the automated phone activation.
So no luck at Tega Cay, SC Walmart. They did have at least 2 in stock. The guy was nice looking into it for 30 mins or so. He finally found out the Walmart had to have the WARP system for in-store phone activation so call up or local Walmart to ask if they have that. He mentioned the store in Rock Hill, SC on Dave Wylie had the WARP system.

I'm not going to waste my time going there, but thought I'd help others. Be sure to call the local Walmart you are going to, ask if they have the phone in stock (both stores said online they didn't have stock, but both stores did have them in stock) and ask if they have the WARP system for activation. Good luck everyone.
Yes done it three times now. Use it a few times with the straighttalk network for a few days first though. Text, call, browse then 61 days later unlocked.

Did anyone get notice "today" that their order was shipped or a notice from UPS with tracking?

Anyone know what time the OCL cell phone reps usually start on Sundays? I know during the week it's usually 10am.

I had the same issue. The Walmart guy basically said we can't do anything other than sell you a phone and a plan…you have to handle everything with Straight Talk. Well, taped to the box was the SIM card and instructions for "activation". Those instructions were part of my problem as the phone was activated in the store and thus going through those steps was causing the error. That meant I had to spend the next 24 hours getting my number changed to the number I was porting in since I was assigned a number I never wanted.

They make it confusing by including those "activation" steps when the phone is already activated when you checkout.
it's a easy process to port over with ST's c/s. How about some cheese with that whine?

Did you have a plan associated with your purchase?
Yes, it was a 2 phone, 2 $45 plan order placed on 11/8 around 9pm Central time.

I also received an package earlier in the week of a phone only, no plan order so this would be the second order to go through.

When did you order the phone? And what plan did you purchase--the $35 pla or what have you?

Order placed on Wednesday night around 9pm central.

2 phones, 2 $45 plans (second plan was actually discounted to $30 due to ordering 2 at once). Free shipping option.

Does the phone plan need to be cancelled manually, or does it end after a month? TIA!
If you don't have auto renew on, straight talk will cut it off automatically after the pre-paid period ends.

When was the "no plan" phone you received earlier in the week ordered? Thanks.

Glad it has been that way for you, but it was not that way for me. I have ported many times before and this was the most difficult experience I have had. It required chat sessions, phone transfers and multiple follow up calls to ST and my former carrier. Not one bit of this Straight Talk deal has been "easy". Heck an "easy" port process allows you to do it online, without chat sessions or making phone calls.

How does auto-renew works for those purchased in store? In my case for example I just bought me the phone and the $35 plan. I didn't provide my credit card information nor debit card to the rep so I'm trying to figure out how does this even apply to auto renew?

FTC wont let me be...lol they wont help. If Straight talk doesnt help, dont mess around with their customer service, it will go no where. just dispute with your credit card and call it a day. I wanted 6 months for my phone and multiple calls, etc. had no luck and finally had to dispute with paypal.
