Got my order for 2 phones delivered today, and got them both activated to start the countdown clock on the unlock. For anyone who bought one just to activate for the one-month plan you purchased and unlock, the easiest way is the automated phone service (the online process wasn't working for me):

1) 1-877-430-2355
2) Press 2 to Activate Device
3) Press 2 for a New Number
4) Follow voice prompt to enter IMEI, ZIP code, create PIN, etc. When asked by the prompt if you want to "add to an existing account", say "No". If you purchased a plan with the phone, it will recognize this and automatically activate the SIM for the plan.

When the voice prompt tells you to power on the device, the instructions were incomplete and unclear. If you've never activated a phone before here are the steps:

1) Attached to the box for your phone is the associated SIM card in a pouch; remove and punch out the nano-SIM.
2) Using the SIM tool in the iPhone box (or a small paperclip), pop out your SIM card tray and insert the nano-SIM.
3) Re-insert the SIM tray into the iPhone and power on the phone.
4) Go through the setup process; I recommend connecting to WiFi when prompted to make things go faster.
5) Your phone should be activated within a few minutes of being powered on with the SIM inserted, assuming you went through all the steps in the automated phone activation.
So no luck at Tega Cay, SC Walmart. They did have at least 2 in stock. The guy was nice looking into it for 30 mins or so. He finally found out the Walmart had to have the WARP system for in-store phone activation so call up or local Walmart to ask if they have that. He mentioned the store in Rock Hill, SC on Dave Wylie had the WARP system.

I'm not going to waste my time going there, but thought I'd help others. Be sure to call the local Walmart you are going to, ask if they have the phone in stock (both stores said online they didn't have stock, but both stores did have them in stock) and ask if they have the WARP system for activation. Good luck everyone.
Yes done it three times now. Use it a few times with the straighttalk network for a few days first though. Text, call, browse then 61 days later unlocked.

If you bought the phone and plan from walmart with this deal, it should be automatically activated at the walmart store. The employee helps with the activation process. If it wasn't activated at the store, I would assume you could just activate the phone online at straighttalk with the "activate" tab.
it is saying no eligible. I have already tried all the options. Walmart premium guy must have done something wrong. ST cs said rescan, but walmart guys cant rescan as i have to pay again they say. Their system is fked up.

It's impossible to deal with chat or phone reps at ST. They don't understand plus don't care. I was able to confirm the phone I brought from instore were not on auto billing, and I left it at that. Anything more that... good luck.

Thanks!
Just picked one up in store. "New" employee had no problems. $49 for the phone and $35 plan, $99.67 total with tax.

Hoping to trade in on a Oneplus 12 if/when Tmobile gets it in a few months.

I know i am lost with the amount of comments, was there any instruction for the device not activating after buying the phone from walmart.

The electronic dept was useless and could not take return. I had to contact the ST CS but they asked me to send email to [email protected] with all details. No response yet. Any other ideas worked for the activation?
I hope you didn't go through this. Did you put the sim card on the phone? I thought they would activate through esim, and waited more than 2 hours to self activation, then I realized there is something attached to the box inside which found a sim card.

You've tried popping the SIM in the phone and see if it works, I assume? It should if activated already as they should have done. If not, you may want to see if the line shows up on the account associated with your account. Go to the ST website and click on the little user icon at the top right. Then choose to sign in and enter the email address you gave them when checking out. You won't have a password, so click "forgot password" and it should email you a link to get logged in. See if anything shows up under "manage lines"

I just called and was told my order had been shipped and I would get it in 1-3 business days. My CC was charged Tuesday. My order status still shows pending remote fulfillment. The rep couldn't give me a shipping date or a tracking number.
I bought two on Thursday morning with $45+30 plan, got shipping notification yesterday afternoon.

I see multiple posts that say even with a port out during the first month, the phone will still unlock at 60 days. How does the unlock work with no service? Just via WiFi?
My only experience is with an Android TracFone and I think then it got texted a unlock code to enter though I may not be remembering correctly?

Thanks

I ordered the black without a plan on 11/6 morning and it still shows remote fulfillment. I talked to CS and then someone who identified as a manager. Neither are they clueless nor do they really care about customer service. One said the order has "not processed", whatever that means. The manager said to wait till middle of this week and call again.

I initially thought they were plain unorganized. However, any decent business would at least have the courtesy to inform customers if their orders were never going to ship and provide some timeline for refunds. Reading through the posts here, it seems like they have banned people in the past even when refunds were not processed after several weeks and customers contacted them multiple times before raising didputes.

This shows how scammy a business and pure fraudsters they are. Maybe holding on funds as " interest free loans" is part of their operational model. Anyway I will give them another week to refund. I paid through PayPal, so I have 180 days but I cannot keep calling them for months and keep dragging this forever.

Same, order placed 11/6, charge posted 11/7. Called this morning, cs rep confirmed both phone only and w/plan order were canceled, refund expected within a few days but I pretty sure I have to dispute it via paypal.

Yes, I have seen a couple of similar reports on past threads, but there is very little data on it and definitely adds to risk for the unlock. However, the mechanism for unlock seems to be that when the phone is activated on the network (IMEI registered in their system … not the physical phone activation), that IMEI gets entered into a database of numbers which is then transmitted to Apple's activation servers to be unlocked 60 days later. It has been confirmed that no cell service is needed once an unlock has been approved and it gets the update simply with WIfi service and it also doesn't matter if in the US or overseas at that point.
