Got my order for 2 phones delivered today, and got them both activated to start the countdown clock on the unlock. For anyone who bought one just to activate for the one-month plan you purchased and unlock, the easiest way is the automated phone service (the online process wasn't working for me):

1) 1-877-430-2355
2) Press 2 to Activate Device
3) Press 2 for a New Number
4) Follow voice prompt to enter IMEI, ZIP code, create PIN, etc. When asked by the prompt if you want to "add to an existing account", say "No". If you purchased a plan with the phone, it will recognize this and automatically activate the SIM for the plan.

When the voice prompt tells you to power on the device, the instructions were incomplete and unclear. If you've never activated a phone before here are the steps:

1) Attached to the box for your phone is the associated SIM card in a pouch; remove and punch out the nano-SIM.
2) Using the SIM tool in the iPhone box (or a small paperclip), pop out your SIM card tray and insert the nano-SIM.
3) Re-insert the SIM tray into the iPhone and power on the phone.
4) Go through the setup process; I recommend connecting to WiFi when prompted to make things go faster.
5) Your phone should be activated within a few minutes of being powered on with the SIM inserted, assuming you went through all the steps in the automated phone activation.
So no luck at Tega Cay, SC Walmart. They did have at least 2 in stock. The guy was nice looking into it for 30 mins or so. He finally found out the Walmart had to have the WARP system for in-store phone activation so call up or local Walmart to ask if they have that. He mentioned the store in Rock Hill, SC on Dave Wylie had the WARP system.

I'm not going to waste my time going there, but thought I'd help others. Be sure to call the local Walmart you are going to, ask if they have the phone in stock (both stores said online they didn't have stock, but both stores did have them in stock) and ask if they have the WARP system for activation. Good luck everyone.
Yes done it three times now. Use it a few times with the straighttalk network for a few days first though. Text, call, browse then 61 days later unlocked.

How do you plan to add the activated line to your website account later?
Lots of people who activated their phone following the wiki don't see the lines on their online accounts which they used to place their orders.
I believe you can do that by going to "Manage Lines" then "Add a Line" and then "Add an already active line". It will likely send a security code to verify your account and / or any phone numbers involved. (This is if you already have an ST account you're trying to add the line to)

I went to one which is listed as super center on Google maps Atleast
Another way to check ?
Someone previously reported that the Supercenter thing doesn't matter and that they had a local supcercenter that couldn't do it, but a non-supercenter store near them that could. So I probably wouldn't count on that as a guide …

Ordered from StraightTalk website with $45 Silver Plan on Thurs 11/9 @ 1:25pm
Shipping notification Thurs 11/9 @ 6:15pm
Received Mon 11/13 @ Noon
Activated using phone # on SIM packet, instructions here: https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=166909303&postcount=2260

Make a call or two
Text "UNLOCK" to 611611 (had to text twice, got a response the second time)
Phone unlocks 1/13/24

Doesn't show up on online account, probably becasuse I selected "No" according to the instructions linked. Will need to verify AutoPay is off in a week or two,

Thanks!

Hopefully can get another in-store.
Speed test: 11 / 5 in SE MI on this SE 3 (2022)
With Boost its 38 / 1 on a SE 2 (2020)
In the same boat as you, activated today, followed the instructions, and selected no for the online account, and now don't see the number in the account. Should we create a new account by using the phone number and new email ID? Will that work and how do we turn off the autopay?

Anyone able to buy in store with $35 plan ? My Walmart says the promo requires the $45 plan to get the discount on the SE.

Try going to ST website and click the little user icon at top right. Then when it asks you to log in, enter either your phone number or IMEI and hopefully, it should then guide you through setting up the online account.

Even the orders delivered showing on ST account as "APPROVED" same as unshipped order. Big mess in ST account management.

Only supercenter store can activate prepaid phones.
I don't think so. I went to regular store .
Found the OSL rep - People who sell wireless services in Walmart.
He took all of 90 seconds to get me out the door with Phone, simcard, ST Service printout with my email & ST pin for $84.

Was turn down in another store few days ago. Then, I Called a Supercenter and Electronics rep mentioned they don't activate.

So key is to find a OSL rep for wireless in Walmart.

Thanks, 6 months is a lot more than 2! It seems like Metro is the same is Straight Talk though, that service is not required after the initial activation.
For this I meant port one of these Straight Talk numbers over to Metro to get the S23 FE. I see posts saying Metro instore is horrible, but I have not been able to catch the S23 FE in stock online.
'
Metro is an MVNO of T-Mobile and ST is an MVNO of Verizon so their unlock policies are different

A54 is another option if you are looking for a basic Android phone from Metro

When you activate the physical ST sim on TF it overrides the ST info - Had same thing happen with a Total by Verizon phone that I activated on TF, I lost the TW plan.
Maybe activate esim on TF & wait till phone unlocks then later activate the ST physical sim to use? Haven't tried but seems like it might work.
Got the phone today and activated with TF as a new phone and keeping my number. Entered the eSIM IMEI and got to a success screen, with instructions to keep WiFi On and I would receive a notification to add the TF plan to my device. My old phone stopped working immediately, but it's now been a couple hours and even after several restarts and the OS update to 17.1.1, nothing from Tracfone yet.

Care to speculate what will happen if I get TF CS involved? Interestingly, trying to go through the activation Wizard at ST says that the device is already activated with another carrier. And repeating with TF says that it is already active as well.

Update 1: Called TF, got escalated, and was told that the iPhone SE 3 is not yet supported for eSIM by TF! They couldn't explain how I was able to complete the activation wizard...I was then told I need to use a physical SIM card with this phone. I had a kit on hand, but as I was about to ask if this would be considered BYOD or not, the call was dropped! I called back and am now told I will receive a callback from Tier 2 support.

It would just say "Security Verification
We are not able to process your request at this time, please call customer support." after clicking on "add a line" in "manage lines" in my account without any active line.

straight talk just hung up on me and I was being super friendly too :|
they're saying they never got my payment even though my credit card says I paid. order is still "Status: Pending remote fulfillment".
Quote from MkVsTheWorld :
Exact same experience as me. Everytime I called, they'd literally seem to do an order status check on their website that anyone can do and then transfer me to Escalations/Corporate/Manager/etc. I'd often then get disconnected, like 90% of the time. After reaching someone in Corporate, I was told that my order would ship whenever they had stock to do so and that my order couldn't be cancelled, only rejected or sent back. I went ahead and did a credit card dispute.

I dont even think I got half the people that posted this but count me in to the party. Was on the phone with ST today and after being transferred, I got disconnected. I mean crap if they dont want o deliver the order then they should just cancel them and not leave us in freakin limbo

Quote from Timless :
I placed a second order after my first was recalled. This got "shipped", but the tracking number isn't real. UPS doesn't recognize it.

I had a tracking number created on a non-first-Monday order which I was referring to above and it went from arriving today to label created, UPS waiting for item

Yeah, if you don't have any lines in your account, it may not be able to do the security verification since it's trying to text a code. Maybe try logging out of any account and then proceed as if you don't have an account set up yet. Click user icon and then enter your phone number or IMEI at login prompt and see if it walks you through setting up another account. That way, it may know to send the code to the new phone.
