Got my order for 2 phones delivered today, and got them both activated to start the countdown clock on the unlock. For anyone who bought one just to activate for the one-month plan you purchased and unlock, the easiest way is the automated phone service (the online process wasn't working for me):

1) 1-877-430-2355
2) Press 2 to Activate Device
3) Press 2 for a New Number
4) Follow voice prompt to enter IMEI, ZIP code, create PIN, etc. When asked by the prompt if you want to "add to an existing account", say "No". If you purchased a plan with the phone, it will recognize this and automatically activate the SIM for the plan.

When the voice prompt tells you to power on the device, the instructions were incomplete and unclear. If you've never activated a phone before here are the steps:

1) Attached to the box for your phone is the associated SIM card in a pouch; remove and punch out the nano-SIM.
2) Using the SIM tool in the iPhone box (or a small paperclip), pop out your SIM card tray and insert the nano-SIM.
3) Re-insert the SIM tray into the iPhone and power on the phone.
4) Go through the setup process; I recommend connecting to WiFi when prompted to make things go faster.
5) Your phone should be activated within a few minutes of being powered on with the SIM inserted, assuming you went through all the steps in the automated phone activation.

So no luck at Tega Cay, SC Walmart. They did have at least 2 in stock. The guy was nice looking into it for 30 mins or so. He finally found out the Walmart had to have the WARP system for in-store phone activation so call up or local Walmart to ask if they have that. He mentioned the store in Rock Hill, SC on Dave Wylie had the WARP system.

I'm not going to waste my time going there, but thought I'd help others. Be sure to call the local Walmart you are going to, ask if they have the phone in stock (both stores said online they didn't have stock, but both stores did have them in stock) and ask if they have the WARP system for activation. Good luck everyone.

Yes done it three times now. Use it a few times with the straighttalk network for a few days first though. Text, call, browse then 61 days later unlocked.

biggest scam of the year

ordered within the first hour of deal going live on ST website, order still in accepted state, multiple calls to ST did not get anywhere

checked 4 Walmart stores, got ST guy not around during business hours (quit, or show up whenever they feel like) or told out of stock when their own inventory checker showed plenty in stock...

what a waste of time

I picked 1 this evening. An employee did say there was misunderstanding that this is a black Friday deal. He told they may have more devices coming their way tomorrow.
Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if some stores held some back for the Black Friday thing. I think a lot of them get used to that being the big day and trying to make sure they have some of all the big sale items then, even if the deal wasn't necessarily aimed at that. It might also be a good time to catch the outside reps who activate the phones, since it's such a high traffic day, which reps like that often aim for. Obviously, it's still going to be YMMV, but there might be some more people scoring the deal for those braving the crowds.

Can I buy this phone and use it for the two months with Straight Talk then put it on Mint Mobile on day 61 when it's unlocked? Need an inexpensive phone for my mom.

Did anyone that got this phone (SE 3rd gen) using it to upgrade to IPhone15/14 (and trading this in)?
I did, no issues. Went to the apple store and did the trade in on t-mobile for an iphone 15. I qualified for the $800 credit through t-mobile.

Got 2 phones, one activated fine.

The second didn't activate, always asks for a plan number. Called customer service 3 times, opened a ticket, and can't get it activated for the life of me... and they just hung up on me.

Off to figure out how chargebacks work I guess.

so, remember the best way let them know is give them very back feedback. companies track their metric very close.

Just go back to the store and ask them to look up the warp order. The plan number should be listed.

The two we had were from the website. But yeah... Figuring out contact info for the ST exec team but the only thing posted is a mailing address.
