Got my order for 2 phones delivered today, and got them both activated to start the countdown clock on the unlock. For anyone who bought one just to activate for the one-month plan you purchased and unlock, the easiest way is the automated phone service (the online process wasn't working for me):

1) 1-877-430-2355
2) Press 2 to Activate Device
3) Press 2 for a New Number
4) Follow voice prompt to enter IMEI, ZIP code, create PIN, etc. When asked by the prompt if you want to "add to an existing account", say "No". If you purchased a plan with the phone, it will recognize this and automatically activate the SIM for the plan.

When the voice prompt tells you to power on the device, the instructions were incomplete and unclear. If you've never activated a phone before here are the steps:

1) Attached to the box for your phone is the associated SIM card in a pouch; remove and punch out the nano-SIM.
2) Using the SIM tool in the iPhone box (or a small paperclip), pop out your SIM card tray and insert the nano-SIM.
3) Re-insert the SIM tray into the iPhone and power on the phone.
4) Go through the setup process; I recommend connecting to WiFi when prompted to make things go faster.
5) Your phone should be activated within a few minutes of being powered on with the SIM inserted, assuming you went through all the steps in the automated phone activation.

So no luck at Tega Cay, SC Walmart. They did have at least 2 in stock. The guy was nice looking into it for 30 mins or so. He finally found out the Walmart had to have the WARP system for in-store phone activation so call up or local Walmart to ask if they have that. He mentioned the store in Rock Hill, SC on Dave Wylie had the WARP system.

I'm not going to waste my time going there, but thought I'd help others. Be sure to call the local Walmart you are going to, ask if they have the phone in stock (both stores said online they didn't have stock, but both stores did have them in stock) and ask if they have the WARP system for activation. Good luck everyone.

Yes done it three times now. Use it a few times with the straighttalk network for a few days first though. Text, call, browse then 61 days later unlocked.

Ugh, that sucks. Maybe watch OfferUp for used ones. People sometimes sell used ones in good shape on there. The good deals tend to get snapped up pretty quickly, but you should be able to find a decent SE 2 or 3 pretty cheap if you watch for a while. If you're coming from a 6, even the SE 2 would be quite the upgrade.
I'm going to check some MetroPCS stores around me to see if they still have that free Samsung Galaxy S23 FE deal with port-in. 180 days until unlock but it seems like a decent phone, especially if it ends up being free. Heard some people say the deal is already dead though.

Seems like I can never get any of these Black Friday phone deals. Looks like I'll have to wait another year and continue using my beaten up iPhone 6.
you have to be quick and always on the look out!

Yep, that's a good recommendation. If someone must have one unlocked, it's best to play it safe. I usually experiment if I have several and missing an immediate unlock won't be a huge deal. Luckily, I haven't had any issues with mine so far, but that's always a bit of a gamble.
That's because you and I are actually TF/ST users, not someone reselling or wanting to use on another network, we can afford to wait.
I finally just got an SE2 unlocked which was activated during the VZ changeover in Nov of 21. Info in database was messed up and unlock dept kept saying I only had 300 days of service (been telling me I needed 60 more days since early March, wouldn't listen or try to help). Couldn't make them understand I had 2 years of service (they said computer is never wrong) so I finally had to make an FCC complaint. Took several callbacks from higher level support to get someone to actually understand and research it as well as a supervisor to override & finally unlock the iphone so I could sell it. Frustrating experience.

Maybe they should pay closer attention to SD since this thread started Nov 3 (3 weeks ago!) and has been on the front page most of the time. Didn't even have to be quick.

I suggest people set a deal alert for items they're looking for. Notification from SD might not always be fast enough but in this case it would have helped.

Yes, exactly. The pros here know what they're doing. It takes experience.

It's uncertain whether there will be another newer iPhone SE in the near future. Word is the soonest may be 2025.

How do I create an online account with the email address that I provided at the time of purchase at the walmart store? When I try to sign in, it asks for password which I have never created?

Clicking on "Forgot Password" worked for me.

Does it send a link to the associated phone number?

Some can get that $10 plan on TF, I can never get that. From my byod sim it always directs me to the $15 plan.

PayPal paid you back in seconds? I submitted a "order not received" case and they gave ST 10 days to respond. They said they would move to the next phase after that. No refund so far.
I know right. After I clicked submit, they said, they will refund me. I was surprised as well. This is my first time doing a dispute with paypal and infact with any credit cards in my life.

I've never bought service from website unless I buy a refurbished phone & then it's usually $15 as well - doesn't matter to me since I always activate with current number & it just adds to balance.
(Also bought several of the $40 flip phone deals with 2 phones/2 years service so haven't needed to buy service for a while)
