Straight Talk raised the price to $99 from $49
-This means you can no longer use the loophole of buying it via the Straight Talk website.
It is still $49+ instore
So the steps would be:
1. Buy the phone instore, activate on Straight Talk (any 30 day plan). The online activation process has not worked for many, it's recommended to activate by phone. Instructions to activate through an automated phone service are HERE.
2. Text UNLOCK to 611611 to confirm the Automatic Unlock Date it will reply with exact date. (You will likely need to send this message twice, as it often doesn't reply the first time)
3. Don't have your account on auto-renew, plan cancels after 30 days
4. Wait for 61 days after your activation date
5. The iPhone SE is now unlocked automatically
Walmart In-Store
The Promotion price isn't automatically taken off at normal checkout in-store it rings up full $149 price even with Plan. Need a Straight Talk rep instore to get the discount. They needed to enter the phone and plan on their terminal to get the discount to apply. Then they will scan the sku on the Walmart POS to check out.
If none above works ask for Manager to override it show them the listing on walmart.com if still won't sell it at promotion price tell them its false advertising since they lured you to store and won't honor the promotion price.

Website shows non-instock online at local walmart stores but they did have them in Electronics. Back of Phone Cardboard says ST SE3.
Link to Walmart Website [walmart.com] (All stores show OOS, so you'll need to go in the store to check stock).
In-store activation requires providing your first name, last name, and a unique email address for each phone. You cannot use an email address from an existing Straight Talk account. Thank you to cvesper, Orang3Beard, LCL121, and Impulse_shopper for the information.
Make sure you provide your email address and the Walmart/ST rep does not input a random one, otherwise your phones will not have a ST account, which could be problematic if need to check the status of your phone's setup online or if you run into any difficulties (like with the service plan not being included with your account due to an error by the Walmart/ST rep). Thank you to llenrad for the information.

Warp computerCreate new order Straight talk Purchase with activation Next New customer 1st name, last name New email $35 plan Asks for device imei Print documents and then check out at regular Walmart register Ps mobile rep and Walmart electronics rep are 2 different associates, most Walmart reps won't know what they are doing, some mobile reps don't even know what there doing, try your luck |
Got my order for 2 phones delivered today, and got them both activated to start the countdown clock on the unlock. For anyone who bought one just to activate for the one-month plan you purchased and unlock, the easiest way is the automated phone service (the online process wasn't working for me):
1) 1-877-430-2355
2) Press 2 to Activate Device
3) Press 2 for a New Number
4) Follow voice prompt to enter IMEI, ZIP code, create PIN, etc. When asked by the prompt if you want to "add to an existing account", say "No". If you purchased a plan with the phone, it will recognize this and automatically activate the SIM for the plan.
If the wireless rep has having difficulty, try this (thanks, busbeepbeep):

I spent 2 hours in my local Walmart as the wireless rep wasn't familiar with doing straight talk transaction.Passing this one in case it helps, once they generate the bar code from the Warp, my person was having issue cause she'd bring that to the walmart register and it would only show up as "special order, ST 35 plan" and not the phone. Then she'd scan the phone UPC, which would show $149. After much back and forth, we figured out needed to scan the WARP barcode and then scan the 2nd barcode on the phone, not the top UPC barcode, and it showed up as $49.99. Total after tax for me was like $99. |

When the voice prompt tells you to power on the device, the instructions were incomplete and unclear. If you've never activated a phone before here are the steps:
1) Attached to the box for your phone is the associated SIM card in a pouch; remove and punch out the nano-SIM.
2) Using the SIM tool in the iPhone box (or a small paperclip), pop out your SIM card tray and insert the nano-SIM.
3) Re-insert the SIM tray into the iPhone and power on the phone.
4) Go through the setup process; I recommend connecting to WiFi when prompted to make things go faster.
5) Your phone should be activated within a few minutes of being powered on with the SIM inserted, assuming you went through all the steps in the automated phone activation.
I'm not going to waste my time going there, but thought I'd help others. Be sure to call the local Walmart you are going to, ask if they have the phone in stock (both stores said online they didn't have stock, but both stores did have them in stock) and ask if they have the WARP system for activation. Good luck everyone.

So, back on/around November 10th, I bought four of these Straight Talk iPhone SE phones. I ordered two phones from the Straight Talk website (with $45 plans), and I also bought two phones from my local Walmart (also, with $45 plans). So far, I have not done ANYTHING with any of these phones, since they were purchased, a month ago. I have not done anything extra to try to activate them; I have not opened any of the packages; I haven't tried to add the IMEI numbers to a Straight Talk account. They are all still sitting in the unopened original packaging.
So, my question, is this: Were any/all four of these phones already actually activated?
From what I understand, the two phones, which were purchased from my local Walmart, were actually activated, before I left the store with them. If this is correct, does this mean that the actual 30 days of Straight Talk service was active and that it has now expired/been disconnected, since this was over 30 days ago? And if so, did I mess up, by not actually making some texts/calls with these two Walmart-purchased phones, while that month of service was active, to help with the automatic unlocking that should take place, 60 days after activation? Or, is it possible that I still may be able to activate/use the 30 days of service, for these two $45 monthly plans?
As far as the two phones that I ordered from the Straight Talk website, what is the current situation like, with regards to them? Have they not been activated, because I did not do anything to begin the activation process? Meaning, the 60-day Unlock countdown *was not started*, but, that I can still activate the $45 monthly service plan and have 30 days of service to use, for each of these two phones? And if I am correct about this, how should I go about activating these two phones? Should I go to the Straight Talk website and fully create an account and add these two phones to my Straight Talk account? Or, should I do something else? Or, were these two $45 monthly plans activated, when I ordered them from the Straight Talk website?
Also, if I am still able to activate and use the $45 monthly plans that came with the two phones that were purchased from the Straight Talk website, could I put that activated Straight Talk SIM card in an Unlocked Pixel 6a phone and use it, for the 30 days of service? Or, as I think I may have read, does the SIM card need to be left in the Straight Talk iPhone SE phones, over the course of the 30 days of active service, so that it will be recognized towards the 60-day unlocking process?
Hopefully, this isn't too confusing. If it is too confusing, I apologize. And if anyone is willing to try to help me figure this out, and you would like me to clarify or elaborate on anything, please, let me know. I will be happy to do what I can, to try to make it easier for you to try to help me.
Thank you very much, in advance, for any helpful replies that I get.

IF... you don't have the email then try going to https://imeicheck.com/imei-check and entering the IMEI number and that should say activated or not. The website may limit you to 2 checks per day (not sure).....OR just power up the phone and check.
AFAIK, the ST phones will need to be activated. (the instructions are in the wiki). A previous poster had commented that there is no time limit as to when you can activate.
Each sim is tied to the IMEI of the phone., so it is advised not to swap until each phone has been unlocked. The 60 day unlock counter does not start until the line has been activated. So keep that in mind.
ALSO, if you want to keep the phones sealed in the box, several of us have taken the risk of waiting the 60 days after activation and then checking unlock status at sickw.com. More discussion on that can be found on page 284.
I am not a tracfone customer but there are several users here that are and maybe they can help answer any other Q's that you have.

Again page 284 explains that situation.

I'm definitely going to go check out page 284 and see if I can get some helpful information from there.
Unfortunately, I have a close family member, who frequently makes my life extremely stressful and it makes it legitimately hard for me to stay focused and get things done, that are simple, for most other people. And I hadn't realized that a whole farking month had passed by, since I had bought these phones. So, I was hoping to get some helpful feedback, to try to make this situation less stressful and simpler, because of how stressful and draining that it has been, for me to even think about trying to get this shit done.
So, again, I really appreciate you taking the time to respond and share this helpful information with me.
Edit: By the way, if I'm not mistaken, when the phone employee, inside Walmart, sold me these two phones, I seem to recall that I had looked at the email addresses that were affiliated with each phone and the employee actually used two different email addresses, one, for each phone. And he just used the email address that I gave him and added a "1" to the end of it, which, obviously, is not an email address that I am going to have access to. So, I'm guessing that I will have to try to add it to a Straight Talk account that I will end up creating, using my actual email address that I gave. Or, am I wrong about this? Is it going to be a major problem, being that the phone employee put a different email address to affiliate the second phone with? And if so, what can I do about that, so that I can actually have access to this phone's line of service?
The second phone you cant access the account, so I would wait another 30 days or so and check sickw.com to see if it shows unlocked. Also by then the phone number associated with that line will be dropped from the ST system. You can then be free to move forward with a carrier of your choosing.
They usually will hold the phone number for 60 days to see if you want to continue service and then it drops out of the system. BTW, tracfone has better pricing and choices.
And finally, if you end up opening one of the WM phones, you can also try texting UNLOCK to 611611 (and send it twice). That will still work for a while after your service end date since it's a system-level number. I just tried from one of my lines that went inactive a few days ago and it still replied with the unlock date.
Edit: I see it is not active
